We need you! Sonic Neo Genesis (formerly known as "Sonic Mega Drive") is a fangame, goal of which is to carefully recreate quality gameplay and atmosphere of classic Sonic games but also add new features and utilize modern technology for better presentation and more variety to the gameplay. Official website So Sage is over. Id like to thank everyone that has played and enjoyed our game and those that are still playing trying to find all the Sonic Coins. If you haven't yet check it out. The S.A.G.E. 2016 demo is on the Download page. While I would like to thank everyone who supported our game, I am displeased to announce that this could possibly be the end of Sonic Neo Genesis. Felik the team leader has stepped down from his position as Director and Main Coder. Which means that I am now the acting leader until his conditional return to the position. The part about this that makes it game threatening is that he was the sole coder for this game. I am the sole artist for this game. Felik has sold a lot and I mean a lot of his time to this project back when it was called "Sonic Mega Drive" and he's feeling a bit burned out from all the sacrifice and effort put into this game. What this means now is that we NEED additional team members for a full game to see the light of day. People who can Sprite and people who can code in Click Team Fusion 2.5 . A total last resort would be to port everything to another engine, but that a lone is still an issue in itself. So if to all of you out there reading this post if you have some skills as CF2.5 coder and are interested in seeing this game completed CONTACT US AND JOIN. Also, if you've been somehow following us on Sonic Retro you no longer can. Unless Felik decides to throw Retro a bone, there will be no more updates or contact there; as I am indefinitely a trial member with no post left @ Retro. So unless they me official member there too you are out of luck. Please contact us if you wish for this game to continue. To elaborate a little I'll say that I've been spending the majority of my free time on this fangame for the past two and a half years. I still want this to be done. I am going to be a part of the dev team if it is going to take off. And I will be an active member just am not going to be nearly as involved. Gameplay video:
Very impressive tilesets and gimmicks. The momentum-based lift near the start of Act 2 was pretty slick.
What type of assistance would you like in particular? Also, are you open to part time/some contributions? (My guess would be "no," but I wouldn't want to exclude the possibility of helping a little bit.)
Please don't take my words as arrogance but I'd appreciate any productive help (sprites, art, leveldesign etc). Part time contributions is welcome! What I don't need are the "I've got this cool idea, you have to put it in your game" guys and "hey I found this spritesheet on the internet, put it in the game. I'm so helpful amiright" guys.
That's incredible! One idea: Adding more substance to the pale blue background in the Jungle level would give it a lot of extra depth and make it more consistent with the highly detailed BGs in the other pictures. Seriously though, that cityscape background is beautiful.
Echoing everyone else - this is looking pretty fucking fantastic and visually stunning. Both zones look positively wonderful. Extremely high production values and beautiful art all round. This is now on my radar as one of the most promising fangames along with Sonic Classic 2 and Sonic XG. A front runner that can stand alongside those games for sure. The name change is also pretty cool and sounds much more compelling than the game's former title. Excited to eventually play this once something complete is available.
I remember playing the first zone when it was still called Sonic Megadrive and it was awesome, so I can't expect less from it now. I will have some problems with the city zone since I have some problems with colours (im not colourblind, but sort of), but well... hope to see another demo soon, and keep going with your nice work.
It's core is powered by one of Damzien's 360 engine. Unfortunately I can't like you to it cause sfghq is down but it is a basic 360 engine with moving platforms preprogrammed. Also it is made in Clickteam Fusion.
Ah I see, thought it was a better engine that Worlds. Very well done Felik! I think this is absolutely awesome! Good luck with this and I'm gonna keep both eyes and ears open. I wish I could help you out with this but I don't have the necessary skills :v:
Its the stuff labeled with "new" on it. Specifically the Game Basics. It shows a very simple over view of the basic controls and displays the basic item boxes players will encounter in the game complete with descriptions. Is a small update...
It looks quite lovely - clearly there's been a great deal of time and effort put into this thing and it definitely shows. BUT There's a few things which rain on your parade. The special effects (particularly the spindash dust cloud) - I'm guessing these were Sonic Worlds defaults but they kinda look a bit bleh. You can do better. Music I'm not keen on. While it definitely fits that mid-90s era where developers slapped redbook audio soundtracks onto things, the tunes lack melodies and don't seem particularly suited to a Sonic game. And City Lights Zone needs a palette change. You've got a blue Sonic and blue enemies standing on blue platforms with a blue background. You've got a nicer green colour further down - maybe that would be a good starting point? Looks nice otherwise though!
