Also, Winamp and WMP are BOTH pieces of shit for tagging. Either use a dedicated tagger (much better) or a media player that's actually designed for this, like foobar2000 or Media Monkey.

"Long time no see". It was so good to see Seanie eventually got the archive back alive. But no sooner than reading some recent posts in this thread—*black out*—my delicate motherboard had failed. And I felt just like in Isolated Island.

However within a day or two I somehow managed to get an older computer working—
    Pentium IIIE, 600 MHz (4.5 x 133)
    128 MB Memory (PC133 SDRAM)

    SAMSUNG SP6003H (55 GB)
ATI Mobility Radeon 9600 (AGP 4x)

OMG what an antique how can I simply put up with this...

    Edit:

A "new solution" to the lossless/lossy format argument—wait, this does not make sense.

    It's been a while.

But since my last uploads, I did get a couple of new stuff that should boost some confidence in bringing the music archive (plus Project Fidelity) back on it's feet again.

Here's what I was able to snag since the deletion:

The Very Best of Sega (FLAC) - Some fan-made album
Shadow the Hedgehog Original Soundtrax (FLAC) - The two disc release of the game music
NiGHTS Original Soundtrack (FLAC - 1996) - VERY interesting album. It's not as good as the PERFECT COLLECTION, but, the synthesizer game music that would normally be rendered on Sega Saturn's hardware seems to be using different instruments - but the same exact sequencing as the original game. Not sure if this means that these were taken from an older/different version of the game or just being rendered on a PC, but it's weird nonetheless.
SONIC ADVENTURE: Songs with Attitude (TTA) - Album with vocal music from Sonic Adventure. The only thing that turns me off about this is when I found it, it was in a weird lossless format. But you can easily find the plugin for foobar/winamp separately on the web. It comes with booklet scans (in Japanese) with pictures of the artists and commentary from the musicians.
Sonic the Fighters (APE) - LOVE THIS. I know I'm a stickler for FLAC, but this APE rip is alright for me since it's such a rare treat in any lossless format. It comes with the log, a cue file, and a scanned booklet. Contains who did what, commentary, and a lot of other neat stuff. The only problem is that it's all in Japanese, but who cares.
SONICTEAM UNPLUGGED LIVE 2004 (APE) - Contains logs, booklet, the works.
Sonic Adventure REMIX (FLAC) - Contains logs, booklet, stuff.

I also have the ALAC version of the Planetary Pieces album, but I'm waiting for a FLAC release instead. I can also grab the Sonic Riders soundtracks in lossless formats, plus a possibly better tagged version of the Sonic Adventure Digi-Log album in a lossless format. I know someone who was going to release Sonic R (the actual music album for the game, not the Redbook audio) soundtrack in FLAC format but he hasn't done it yet (asked him twice but don't want to bother him a third time - going to see what he's doing). But most of these were pretty good finds in my book.

If it helps you deduce where this OST's music was taken from, I just found it online and went, "Oh, I've heard that before!" It's an unlockable in NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams (only the menu you select the songs through makes the "Pwwaah" sound from the original NiGHTS menus when you select a track, so you can't hear the beginning of them). The site on which I found the OST makes some interesting claims about some of the tracks, including noting the different instrumentation as a "before compression for the game" sound and the "Know Thyself!" track being for an unused boss. Seems like those explanations are ass-pulls to me (especially since "Know Thyself!" is an arrangement of the NiGHTS theme, which none of the other boss themes are), but you can judge it for yourself. After all, what do I know? I just play the damned games. :P

    (Looks at Evilhamwizard's post...)

The Very Best of Sega (FLAC):

I guess those "bonus tracks" are only released as MP3s. Too bad they had to deal with copyright issues...

Shadow the Hedgehog Original Soundtrax (FLAC):

OMG that's a rare scoop! Do want!

SONIC ADVENTURE: Songs with Attitude (TTA)

This album has been flying around in several formats. I used to mess with some "crappy" APE files too.

"the ALAC version of the Planetary Pieces album"

Edit: I'm bored enough to make a "teaser". It's a pity that I only have the first two parts of the original ALAC release. You may put up the rest at this moment, since the FLAC release could take "quite a while"...

the Sonic Riders soundtracks in lossless formats

Speedbeats Grand Prix—great to see another rare scoop.

Sonic R (the actual music album for the game, not the Redbook audio) soundtrack

I'm sure people would enjoy the two exclusive remixes.

Hmm, seems no one has posted the Sonic Pocket Adventure soundtrack. I'm rectifying that; attempting to upload my mp3 rip to the sonicarchive ftp posted on the previous page of this thread. Should be up in 5 minutes or so if anyone wants to check it out.
If there's any interest, I can upload a FLAC encode of the rip as well. Not sure if there's really much benefit in this case, though. (I mean, come on, it's a chiptune!)

    edit:
Again, if there's any interest, I can dig out the source wave files for my Project Chaos Endless Mine remix and upload a FLAC version. I've also got a lossless version of Hetcenus' Chrome Gadget piano arrangement (both the Project Chaos version AND an unreleased re-rendering which uses a MUCH better piano sample set) if it's wanted.

Seriously, what the hell is wrong with people?

Someone deleted the /media/ directory and everything that was in it - everything is gone. I seriously do not understand this... Who the hell knows when I will be doing anything else with this, only time will tell but that is seriously fucked up. This is why I thought it was smart to only give out info via PM but I didn't expect anyone to be this much of an asshole.

Whoever did it - go fuck yourselves.

Also, if Psychosk8r sees this, can you please contact me with the IM names on my Retro profile or use Skype? Thanks.

I was wondering where this topic went. I don't understand all the sabotage in this....this is worse than Shadow of a Hedgehog's lack of update after they retooled their page......which happened YEARS ago. So sad.

Sorry to hear about the loss of what I'm assuming to be your lossless Sonic music archive? It's too bad I stumbled upon this forum a few days too late.
<introduction>I'm one of the admins and original founders of tails.kicks-ass.net (xnicole.com)</introduction>
Do you still have any of the music saved somewhere? Also, I apparently had the entire (I think) copy of the old Project Fidelity archive in my site's sorting folder for the last 1 year, and forgot about it till recently. Anyway, I hope I can help out with this project, if it's still alive.

http://tails.kicks-ass.net comes damn close, although most of the music is now in the "working on" section, while I replace all the CDs I can with higher quality FLACs. We have as much storage space as you want, I'm also hoping that this project won't die.

Oh, I'm just glad the project is still alive. I hope the plan is a good one, too.

So here's a sum-up of what content we've been currently working on:

Planetary Pieces (converted from Huelen10's ALAC release)
    Speedbeats Grand Prix
    Zero Gravity Tracks
    Sonic The Hedgehog Remix
    Virtual Sonic
Sonic Adventure Remix (without log file, I wonder if there's any difference from Evilhamwizard's one)

(Special thanks to Rassah from TKA for providing all of above in splitted FLAC format, and hosting them on his site before we can eventually transfer them to the SonMA server, since it may still take a while to carry out "the plan", according to Seanie :P)

    And here's what I might expect next—see Post #243 and #247.

So far all the visible songs in TKA's music section are FLAC. Feel free to grab them. Also, what is SonMA? And would it be ok if I were to grab things from you which we may be missing?

This project we're talking about in this thread is SonMA. Read the first post...

Well, since this project is not dead (again), and now that XMA has finally been cracked, hopefully this time someone can upload the XMA files from Sonic '06.

SeanieB, any ideas when the site will return?

Sazpaimon actually agreed to do this. It will be on the archive soon after it is up.

It's up to the respective uploaders.

    P.S.

Breaking news—Will you be interested after seeing the "1536kbps 48KHz LPCM WAVs"...?
