The sad thing is that doesn't shock me in the least he would do that. Why do the hell is anyone friends with him, again...?

Anyways, sorry to hear that SeanieB. A lot of work went into it and now it's all gone. Hopefully someday you can revive this project...

I don't understand why someone would do something like this in the first place. I don't know who this Sonickid is, but this was a really dick headed move of him to delete so much work without warning. This project isn't done for, is it? Once you get knocked down, get back up!

Well the big issue seems to be finding a new host since he doesn't seem to be interested any more. Obviously everything that's been UL'd so far can be put back up again.

that's the only problem. I need a place to host a lot of stuff and a lot of bandwith, in 5 weeks we used a staggering 16 GB of outbound bandwith

That is a problem. I'm sure someone around here will be able to help you out, it's a big community. I hope this doesn't mark the end of the project.

Peter O'Hanlon, your ass is mine.

On a realistic note, I believe you will be able to find new hosting. I don't want this to be done. :(

Yes. This is extremely dickish, and he should be ashamed of himself.

On a seperate note - if you find hosting, I'm perfectly willing to upload a ton of stuff again. I snagged from the archive while it was up what it had that I didn't, so getting the content back shouldn't be a problem.

What's with all the pessimism? This is just a bump in the road. This project will be finished. And as for hosting, maybe you could try 1&1. Their rates are pretty cheap and they offer a lot of space, so maybe they'd work.

Rest assured. We're not DEAD, yet. (Oh no who am I quoting)

I am quite optimistic about the situation, too. Even FREE hosting services are everywhere.

Seanie you can just list all your requirements here (like the storage size you need, the price you can afford, specific function, etc). Our human-powered search engine is at your service.:)

Come on guys, we have to keep going with this. It would be a resource like no other! I've never seen a website that has all the Sonic music, so we could be the first! I just can't let this project die.

Indeed. But while looking for another host, I suggest each contributor firstly sort out what is to be re-uploaded again in the future.

The only things I can think of that we may not want are my Sonic Schoolhouse rips, and some of the mobile music. I still need to finish ripping the rest of the music from Sonic the Hedgehog Gameworld, and I can also do the GBA port of Sonic 1, which has somewhat-remixed music. Another thing to think about is that we'll need tons of space, because we'll always need to be updating the website as more Sonic games are made!

So, do we have any progress on the hosting situation or are we still in the same road block?

  16. Depending on what amount of room and traffic we're talking about you could ask Kradorex for hosting

20–30 GiB seems handy enough for now.

Wow, what a fucking asshole, this Sonickid, I could understand if he didn't want to us to use his fucking bandwidth but to fucking delete everything without warning, what a fucking douche.
Also Seanie if by any chance you find another host, preferably from someone know in the community let me know I gladly reupload everything I uploaded, no questions ask,

The problem isn't with space per se, it's more a problem of bandwidth, imo.

I can easily provide you unlimited storage for free, but I can't guarantee that it would get a decent bandwidth, being hosted on shared hosts and all.

Ugh, finally, someone posted a lossless version of planetary pieces:

    Part 1 http://www.megaupload.com/?d=84XZZBP6
    Part 2 http://www.megaupload.com/?d=J326U7VF
    Part 3 http://www.megaupload.com/?d=YARMN9E3
    Part 4 http://www.megaupload.com/?d=Z7CVWX7W
    Part 5 http://www.megaupload.com/?d=2V3Z8XO5
    Part 6 http://www.megaupload.com/?d=IVTKQJBP
Part 7 Rings In Hand http://www.megaupload.com/?d=DAHOPINV
    Part 8 http://www.megaupload.com/?d=SSAGX5MK
    Part 9 http://www.megaupload.com/?d=W17M4LV2

    (Thanks huelen10!)

Problem is, it's in ALAC (Apple lossless), ew. A FLAC version is coming soon from huelen10 (but with no cue sheet), so I'll let you know asap when it gets posted. I figured I'd post this since I know most of you have been dying for something more lossless than 320kbps. :P

    Enjoy!

PS: Keep an eye on this thread for the FLAC rip.
