Gathering information on Sega World Sydney and collecting Sonic merchandise.
I certaintly wasn't expecting to come across this on my latest Sonic merchandise hunt! It looks like Argentinian pirates are attempting to sell poorly-made Sonic Megamix cartridges for $55. I'm really not sure how to react. I find it funny that they think someone will actually buy it, but is having your fangame sold on Ebay flattery, or an insult? I'd report this, but the game itself technically infringes copyright, so I'm not really sure what to do here.

  2. This isn't good. I'm sure most people are smart enough to not trust this, but for those others...

I personally would find it to be an insult if someone were both profiting off and taking credit for something that I made with my own two hands. However, if someone tried making a profit off a rom hack I did I wouldn't really care. :P

Also, Russians have tried pulling this before, they even went as far as creating their own awful box art for it. I'll feel sorry for any chump who spends the $55 for this too, the hack itself is not even worth $15 in my opinion.

Jesus, fucking pirates. DEFIANTLY REPORT THIS! Those bastards have to get off eBay. Actually my dad works at eBay, so I might be able to get him to do something about it. This is just wrong!
EDIT: WHA? $55 FOR A SHITTY-MADE CARTRIDGE WITH STOLEN WORK? I'll bet you if you buy it, it will not work for long.

Actually, for the lulz, I say someone here buy this cart and keep it for their own purposes. Sure, $55's a bit much (is it? I don't check the exchange rates that much) but hey, what'll make this community funnier is what makes it more fun.

    Or so I think.

    Again, silly pirates. :v:

How about the SonicRetro screen =P

Well this comes at no surprise, pretty funny though if you think about it.

The worst part is that this is only Megamix v3.

Ouch! To be honest, if Tweaker said "There's a new version of Megamix out and it's awesome! It has x, y, z... but to you it's $15" I'd gladly pay it! I can tell you something that ISN'T worth $15 though but that's another story.

Anyway, re the pirates: what a cunch of bunts! Heres wishing them aids.

Only V3 you say? Man, they're really taking the piss aren't they? You wouldn't mind so much either if they were cool pirates with eye-patches, bandannas and parrots on their shoulder.

Oh, give me a break, you guys. I'm just trying to scrounge up some pocket change to help pay off my student loans. Have a heart!

Again Megamix gets pirated while Advanced Edit is left alone. :(

    It's not fair! :specialed:

Yeah, Megamix gets far too much attention. No Advanced Edit, no Retro Remix, not even Robotnik's Revenge. You'd have thought they'd try to make money by selling lots of different hacks.

Gosh, selling v4 for SegaCD / MegaCD would be so much easier. Don't give them any ideas!

  15. I find it hilarious that I was reading piracy articles on the wiki before finding this topic.

It's ridiculous that they'd try to sell the game, but hopefully people will steer clear and save their $55.

Old news, I posted about this years ago and got this guy banned... >_> looks like he has a new account though. Back me up, Tweaker.

Despite all romhacking work that's been done, it's still an illegal copy of Sega's work, so.

  19. I got a good laugh at this. A pirate of an illegal game. But yeah you can't really say anything.
