This only applies in the post-Genesis later games (chiefly 3D titles, but it has definitely leaked into recent 2D games / 2D segments as well) where they have dash panels to just push the player through and/or have scripts set up in them to just pull the player through. The amount of momentum the player has built up with the physics directly correlates to how fast they move through a loop, let alone even go through the loop at all in the Genesis games. Depending on the speed going in, they can serve as an obstacle that slows you down, or a speed boost that makes you go even faster.
There's actually one other video that has the speed up song that IGN posted. And I was wondering what that wall edge run was too. It acted as if it was curved but it's not. Wonky collision maybe? Also why do all these videos of Sonic/Tails co op have players who can't coordinate Tails giving Sonic a lift?
Are we talking about this? If so, pretty sure that's just a piece of foreground art that's covering up the slope.
hey guys Did you hear that Sonic Mania is coming out this year Did you hear who is behind this game It's going to be one of the best Sonic games ever made
Is it finally time to lock the thread like we did in the days of old, on account of no new info and recurring loops of discussion?
Don't see any reason to lock the thread because of a lull in information, since new information has often sprung up out of nowhere.
By the way, Tails' mouth still looks weird when he lifts Sonic, I somehow hoped they could fix it since it was first noticed several dozens of pages ago. I'm also glad to see that the Switch is going to have a physical release, this means that I'll have an easy and convenient way to play this game on my computer in a decade or so, when Switch emulators will exist and I'll finally buy a copy of it :U
I can't tell what that expression is supposed to be. Like I can tell it's being strained but not in the way in the way it's supposed to be. It looks like he wants to take a shit and has a fang sticking out.
There's nothing wrong with the puffed cheek; it was obvious what it was meant to be at first glance, even in the older footage, and didn't warrant any changing then, much less now. (For Christ's sake, guys...)
The game is overall looking pretty amazing to me. The true Sonic 4 that I've waited nearly 20 years to play (played the classics on PC and Sonic Jam back in 1997, lol). I do have a question regarding the Switch version: Does the fact that it's being ported by other parties (the LoZ:TP HD team) mean that it may not get post-release patches as frequently, or at all? I don't think the Steam release of Sonic CD got any patches at all (was a port of the console versions I think), while the mobile versions did get a few updates and bug fixes. The Switch version does look to be the best choice by virtue of portability, so I'll probably get that version anyway. Good luck to the Mania team!
As I've said before, the Tails face is creepy as fuck :v:/> . I fucking love Taxman and Stealth, but god, that face xD
I haven't had a current game console in ages (the latest I own is a PS2), and I have little to no interest in modern games, so Mania is actually gonna be my first ever purchase of a downloadable PC game. Yeah, I despise this distribution model, but what can I do? It's not like I'm selling my soul or suffering something terrible by doing this, I'm just doing what it takes to play this one game.
I honestly really dig downloadable games on PC. Especially with Steam, there's a ton of indie releases for lower spec PCs and Steam support is great for refunds if you have issues with games. But either way, I hope that you enjoy Mania on release!
