I see. Between that and the 32X visuals, this is feeling more and more along the lines of what we would have got if Sega wasn't desperate to rush Sonic into 3D.
The Drop Spin is actually very reminiscent of a bug/feature that could be done in the classic games! Try charging a spindash in a place where you can be pushed off the ledge by a moving block (Casino Night has some of these). If you stop pressing Down while falling, Sonic will keep charging the spindash and will automatically get launched in the facing direction as soon as he touches the ground. I even reported how this behavior didn't happen in the CD remake, a few years ago. I wonder if Taxman came up with the idea while fixing it?
OH MY GOD ARE THOSE PROPER ROLLING PHYSICS???!!!! Great to see StealthTax working on this. We always wanted Taxman to make a new 2d Sonic game and now our dream has come true (well mine has) "Drop, Dash" Looks like it's there to just to keep momentum going. Interesting...
Looks great. Also I'm excited to see what looks to appears to be proper level gimmicks. I'm loving the SegaSonic popcorn gimmick.
So pleased about this. The idea I'll be playing this, natively, in my living room on my Playstation 4 next year, it's a good feeling. Congrats to Taxman and Stealth for getting to this point to have an original 2D Sonic game, published by Sega.
That music and those graphics and those colors and... I hope there's a good bunch of new levels in this game, if all of them are going to be as cool.
The moment that I saw the Christian Whitehead logo appear I could feel everything inside me explode with glee. I am so dang excited for this, it looks beautiful, sounds beautiful, and as soon as I hear from people at the event, I can't wait to have it confirmed that it plays beautifully as well. Well done. This game is absolutely perfect and finally seems to be the true Classic successor we needed: Healthy respect for what made the games great to begin with, but still taking steps to advance the series in effective, explorative ways with things like the drop dash. Finally the 32X/Saturn 2D Sonic I've always dreamed of!!
Looks absolutely fantastic! Not only that but they got Tee Lopez to make music for it! Insta buy. My only complaint is that apparently every new Sonic game absolutely has to have green hill in it in some way or another. I'd take an original tropical zone over Green Hill #253 any day.
Y'know, I woke up this morning in the UK and saw the stream trailer. I was hyped. Then j saw the Instagram footage and was excited. (Then I saw project 2017 and thought fuck) THEN I saw that gameplay footage from GameSpot. And for the first time in years I feel excited to be a Sonic Fan, and nearly in tears of happiness at the soundtrack, look, feel, it's crazy. I want it. I want lots of it. So much. I've always wanted Sonic Megamix, but this is just as good.
