  2. So I am loving that Chemical Plant Zone trailer. The music makes it sound Sonic CD-ized. The gels, the new tubing. Plus I am mega gay for Chemical Plant anyway. Yes I know it was in Generations but still. They knew to show off Act 2.

    Hi. Thanks for the clarification. Just to be totally clear, that new powerup was a beefed-up version of the series original Bubble Shield? Did it had the same Item Monitor? (Fourth one from left to right)

    Also, you mentioned seven levels are included in that build, while only six have been confirmed until now (To help you recap: Green Hill Zone, Studiopolis Zone, Mirage Saloon Zone, Flying Battery Zone, Stardust Speedway Zone (seen in the preorder trailer, the one with the giant plant monster) and now Chemical Plant Zone). I imagine you are maybe not allowed to talk about it, or maybe you didn't even played it, but is that seventh zone this one that got leaked some weeks ago?

    I never liked the look, design, music, or placement in the level order of CPZ, but I can respect this choice and understand that it's a favorite of many. Plus, the 2nd act looks promising in layout and the remix has those CD inspired alarms which is great.

    Chemical Plant zone is one of my least favorite zones from Sonic 2 so I'm kind of disappointed to see it return yet again. However it's looking much better than it did in Sonic 2. Still looking forward to August 15 regardless. :P

    I have to say I really like what they did to CPz, and the remixed music is awesome, but seriously there ore like a thousand Sonic levels why does Sega insist on beating to death giving us only the 5 most known and used levels. I would love to see this kind of treatment given to any other factory level. It's like Taxman and Stealth have to jump through hoops to make this game not stale and boring.

    Also if the GHz boss is not named "Egg Erection", I'm not interested anymore.

    Edit: Also Death Egg Robot? What's this like the 4th or 5th time it's been used? Seriously Sega, just let Taxman and Stealth do something original!

    Hey, if it's the first zone's boss, then that's a hell of a way of getting the Holy Shit Quotient up and keeping them guessing the rest of the way of what they could throw in next.

    I played Chaotix for all of 5 minutes and hated it, repeat playings have not changed my mind.

    I never really liked Chemical Plant Zone at all, I didn't want it in Generations, and I'm not happy to see it yet again. However, I'm glad to see things from other zones being included in it.

    I also have a question which I hope can be answered by the developers: will there be an option to disable the smooth sprite rotation on slopes in favour of the classic 8 angles?

    I was all ready to storm in here like "that's the last straw" over CPZ, but then it looked really fun and the DNA elevator was awesome. Fine. Fine. Whatever. Still have to cap my final rating at 4½ stars (or a solid B).

    This is half the game I wanted it to be.

    It combined the rings you lose when getting hit so you can recover more than 20 rings.

    Yeah, I can't say I'm 100% pumped to see another of Generation's picks being re-done again for Mania (although Green Hill was a bit of a given), considering the wealth of other potential Sonic 2 stages, but I gotta admit there's some good new stuff in there so I'm sure it'll be fun! The sticky/bouncy stuff looks like it's going to spice things up a treat. (Couldn't Oil Ocean have used these similar gimmicks?)

    So at this point the only thing left that I really want from this game is in one level, to suddenly find myself locked in the Barrel of Death room from Carnival Night, only to have the Barrel then transform into the deadliest, most frightening super-boss in the entire game.

    I'm disappointed to see Chemical Plant again. I would have much rather had Mystic Cave; it's such an unused level trope in comparison.

    I can't say I'm surprised about Chemical Plant Zone's inclusion. I would have preferred to see Mystic Cave or Oil Ocean instead, seeing as CPZ is one of my least favorite Sonic zones.

    I really love the stuff TaxStealth have done to the zone, though. That DNA elevator is fucking awesome. Stuff that makes you question why it wasn't in the original already.

    And oh my god the music
