no, the Super Pealout and InstallShield are coded differently. i can make Sonic Fly, or knuckles Dropdash, but theres no way currently for me to get them to Super Peel out or Insta-shield. no, but you can edit your save, i wrote up a thing about it a few pages back. just zero that section out.
Got debug mode working. Was very easy to collect the Emeralds and beat the game four times (all 4 character sets with all Emeralds) using the debug mode signpost level skip. Tomorrow I'll do my no Emerald marathon and finish the perfect save file. :D Thanks a lot!
I Think with the Moveset Switching done, I might release the Cheat Table. though I'm not sure. I need to start working on the save editor and while it's been fun making the cheat table, I don't think much more can be done with it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L8achLPn8Eg&feature=youtu.be
That'd be great and much appreciated! As for what's left, perhaps something like disable the Super music after transforming? The Super music is quite boring, IMO, and I'd rather listen to the zone music. I'm sure there's a lot of other people who'd agree with me there.
very nice stuff with chest engine. While this is more of a bandaid fix / initial dive in what can be done to the game, it does make for a neat look into the potential of mods once any/all of these hack methods are able to be done via executeable/data editing. VERY interested in Egg Reviere SS on standard stages. Makes me wonder if its possible to nerf that power and make it that super flight drains rings faster or something like that; itd be fun to break the game in small bursts :p I don't find the super music boring, its actually kinda fun. The issue with super music, like all forms of music interruption in Sonic games, is that its s complete tone shift and the *same track every stage.* Lack of variety makes any song get old the more you hear it, even if a song's quite good (the Unleashed jazz isnt a bad composition but you learn to hate it the more you hear it). Overexposure aint fun. That said yeah a toggle for super music would be neat lmao.
Spoiler After digging more through the files, it has been found out Press Garden's original name was Pulp Solstice, hence PSZ.
Pulp Solstice? That doesn't sound like an alternate name to Press Garden at all - maybe they changed the level during development and reworked old ideas into the new zone. Maybe that's where the Garden part of Press Garden originally came from? Edit: reworded for clarity.
I can see it referring to the pulp of wood (and paper consequently), and the solstice of a holiday/season.
Aaron already confirmed this via the last stream but their was a bunch of fake zone names to throw leakers off during development, that "gloogia(?)" zone thing was a legitimate fake zone name.
Still working on Stuff. Got like 70% of it done. Most of it was getting the framework and API correct since the stuff I used for my Sonic CD Editor, while it worked it had some issues. plus there was a lot of Copying and Pasting and Modding code. not its clean and simple. even does the math for the offsets to the other Save Slots (i only had to code in the set for the first slot), BTW its offset + (Slot number - 1) * 1024. Basic save editing is coming first then maybe in Version 2, I'll add Medal Editing and Changing since I have the values for those two. after that, there's nothing to else. The ONLY Save Game Editor for Sonic Mania. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kSJEwOOZX60 for anyone interested in the Sonic CD 2011 Save Editor its here https://www.dropbox.com/s/4fe263bzmox08ox/CD2011SaveEditor.rar?dl=0
Someone PLEASE make turning into Super forms a seperate button... or at least change the music that plays in the Super forms That'd be great!
Wish this site let you upvote posts. Excellent work CNG, your stuff's been consistently exciting. if its alright, I think setting "change slot" to 2 arrows so you can cycle left/right of the save slots would probably be preferable. Will update the main post tomorrow morning with more information as it comes out, though while I'm here I wanna mention TPot got a ton of files extracted via THIS TOOL. We're getting closer to completely unpacking the rsdk, even if we're not 100% yet. Insane progress for day 2 of release, though. Worth noting the sprites in TPot's pack aren't the raw files, meaning the palettes are applied already. Probably more for use in sprite editing and the like as opposed to editing for the purpose of putting them back in the game.
If you've paid attention to PC release stuff, they added that in for the PC version's "patch", though in the form of a big button prompt in the corner of the screen since it goes against the game's one-button policy.
not sure if this has been posted here, but this was posted on the sonic the hedgehog subreddit: https://github.com/koolkdev/rsdkv5_extract it seems to be a set of python scripts that can pack and unpack the retro engine V5's (the version that mania is made with) rsdk file
Look what someone on SEGA Forums called Peachy found No Amy sprites in the game though! Did the SEGA forums just own Sonic Retro :v:
