Haven't been able to do that in a while.

    Oh and these

I really like how this game does not limit level themes to zone names. I'm pretty sure there are only 6 area names, only 4 of which we know of for now, but we've already seen like 7 truly unique areas.

Those screens are sexy as hell. This game is shaping up pretty well from the looks of it.

I really like the first screenshot of Silent Forest. It's about time we get a decent looking night time, Marble Garden-esque stage. As for the rest of the screenshots, they're really colorful. The Neon lights of Frozen Factory really make it stand out.

But here's the thing, they look good visually, but they don't exactly look that good in terms of how fun they will actually be.
The first screenshot looks like a really generic blocky level in terms of the stage design.
The second on is just a hallway with the grind rails (though to be fair, a decent chunk of the level that was shown in some of the trailers looks pretty fun).
And the third one is just a plain hallway.. with lasers (which don't look that menacing and will probably end up confusing alot of people).

Looks like we're gonna have to play the good ol' waiting game and see if the actual whole package holds any water.

    - That's because of the stage theme
    - And there's the problem with you judging the game's gameplay based on screenshots.
    - Those lasers are more obvious in action

    - Uh which one are you referring to?
    - It's not like I'm completely judging it from only one screenshot. We had plenty of screenshots of it before. And I've seen plenty of 3Ds Desert Ruins to know that there will most likely be more than one really blocky puzzle oriented-stage.
    - Fair enough.

Oh, and you should have probably read the last line of my previous comment :v:

Personally I think this game looks pretty good. Every time you look through the level there's always something new you notice (like how the grass kind looks like confetti, objects in the background, etc) . Although the design is a bit more simplistic, it's detailed at the same time. Also, the jungle level just looks beautiful. I like how they're actually having a dedicated art style in the game, whereas Generations and Unleashed (looking at the concept art of those games they actually had good ideas for the art styles but scrapped them) didn't really. I'm not saying those games were ugly, just didn't really look to have that much of personality in it.

Gameplay-wise, I heard from people that actually played Lost World, once you start the game it's actually hard to control. Later, according to them, once you get used to it it controls very well and feels stable. I really like how they slowed him down in this game too, really looks like they've got the pacing right. However, I've always liked the idea of an open world, slower paced Sonic but I can see why SEGA didn't do that. It could be very tricky to pull that kind of thing off.

Watching the first cutscene I can tell the plot looks to be a bit more like Colors. People can hate me for this but it doesn't look that it's the kind of thing where you can go as deep as Unleashed ( In my opinion that had the best plot. Hate me.) , but still, I'm not playing this for the plot. Speaking of plot, Knuckles, Amy, and Tails are here but I'm sure fans of other characters are going to rage kinda like Generations. The gameplay looks pretty fun and as always the music is nice to listen to. Kinda sad there's probably not a main theme to the game as they should have given us a sample by now. However, those are my minor nitpicks. Can't really say much about the game before it's released though but I'm sure to try it out once it's released. I can see this game being one of the better Sonic games though.

This game's art style is growing on me. At first I thought it was a huge step back from Generations, but the more I see it, the more I admire it's simplicity. I almost agree now, as amazing as Generations was, it can look kinda cluttered. This game has an art style though that is more likely to stand the test of time, and it looks Sonic-y to boot. I think they made the right move here.

Just saw the English cutscene and I've gotta say I really like what Mike Pollock brought to Robotnik this time. I've never really cared for his voice but he's gotten it down pretty well.

Roger however...I didn't think a voice could get progressively worse. It's almost as if he's channeling all of the YouTube parodies into his voice now.

Here's hoping for a JPN voice option.

I was really impressed by that cutscene. I've been so tired of the Colors/Generations-type cutscenes where characters just stand around and talk. Good to see them starting to become a little more dynamic. Love the twist of Sonic causing the problem instead of Eggman. Pollock's voice was absolutely spot-on there, and when he said "That was a mistake," it perfectly encapsulated the situation. I'm actually excited to see how the other cutscenes play out!

I liked the cutscene too, especially since seeing the full version painted Sonic in a worse light and Tails in a better one. It initially bothered me that the abbreviated cutscene made Sonic look really great and Tails look bad. Overall, I'm a lot more optimistic about the cutscenes in this game compared to the last two entries in the series, but I did enjoy the cutscenes in Colors and Generations.

More wisps and stuff for the 3DS version. Does it bother anyone that the rock wisp looks like it functions EXACTLY the same as the rock power up in Galaxy?

My biggest bother is just the Wisps being used period, since as of now they don't seem to have any plot-based significance. But once I got past that hurdle, I don't mind them re-using and re-skinning existing powers. They worked fine before :)

Oh no I love the wisps, don't get me wrong. Just that one is literally a Mario Galaxy power.

Ah, gotcha. I missed where you mentioned Galaxy, I thought you were talking about the rocket from Colors XD

I haven't played Galaxy outside of store kiosks so I couldn't tell you if it makes a difference for me. At this juncture, as long as it works, I don't mind :)

To be fair, Blue Cube is a portable P-Switch and Purple Frenzy is a Mega Mushroom. You can draw parallels all day, it's not that hard.

Despite what Iizuka said about the unlikelihood of a Mario/Sonic platforming game at Sonic Boom, It still feels like a lot of these Wisp powers and Lost World gameplay changes feel like a way to further ease Mario and its players into Sonic gameplay. They were saying in some interview mentioned a few pages back that is one of their intents for the game, but I still can't shake that there is more to these changes than they're letting on.

These wisp powers would be the perfect setup for a Mario and Sonic RPG. Only instead of Bro attacks there would be wisp/mushroom powers.

The Wii U version of this game looks slick in person. I saw a lot of people saying the graphics grew on them a lot once they saw it with their own eyes and I'm no exception, it just looks so much better once you're there. The casino level in Frozen Factory was very pleasant to the eye in particular. It's a very eye-catching game and hopefully will make 60 FPS a standard in Sonic games going forward. I only played Windy Hill on the Wii U version since I want to keep the other levels a surprise to my hands at least. It definitely isn't a game you can pick up and get the hang of right away, even if you've mastered any and every other Sonic title. I'm not going to say it's a bad system, it's one I can see myself liking a lot. There's just going to be a good learning curve for every first-time play where you figure out Sonic, his momentum, and what all you can do while parkouring. I actually died on the level. :( It's definitely going to be like Unleashed in the "Once you've mastered it it's a breeze" type deal, but without all the obstacle-course type stuff.

On the 3DS version I gave Frozen Factory a go since I hadn't seen it before. This is actually a snow level where you start out on a snowboard (hmmm), and it controls decently enough, think a less crazy City Escape Modern type deal. The snowboarding bit was easy enough, when Sonic's on his feet it was actually easier to adjust to than the Wii U version in terms of controls. I'll be honest though, I kept falling in bottomless pits, got frustrated and let someone else play. The closest thing I could compare the jump to from vague memory is Unleashed HD's jump, which is...ehh in a more 3D-based game.
