Sonic Generations Megathread

Wow, Sonic's model for the 3DS version seems to have upgraded from PSX level to at least Game Cube level.

It's nice to see them improve their stuff, unlike what happened with Sonic 4.

 

Does the (non-emulated) 3DS screen antialias, or soften up the image at all? The edges around the models look pretty sharp.
But it does look good.

 

I'm honestly not sure. When playing OoT3D, I noticed everything looking nice in 2D, and horribly jaggy with the 3D on.

 

How on earth could the Boost version of Rooftop Run get more intense than this update? The drummer's gonna have to put some double-bass pedal action in there to speed it up any faster!

 

Easy. Sega could recruit Mike Portnoy or Joey Jordison. Either one of those drummers could do it no problem.

 

Think you can make an .mp3 set as well? my ipod doesn't recognize .flac formats.

 

Oh my gosh, that Chemical Plant.... So absolutely perfect. I'm surprised they slowed the melody down instead of speeding it up which would make more sense for Modern Sonic, but it actually works in its favor, because it sounds so different.

And Seaside Hill's bass-line is funky. Dig it.

Seems they are liking Generations.

 

So if there's no Werehog at all, I'll be curious if that means the Unleashed boss will actually end up being from the opening scene. That would be absolutely fantastic.

 

How do I get their job? Do I have to drink as constantly as they do and be 12?

I love how they can't say anything because of "embargos." This is the one power this community as a whole has over the corporate world. We have our own people give us the details. For FREE. I <3 you all who've given us the latest and greatest while the official bozos can't say shit. This fall the 360 will have been out for 5 years.....and there is no replacement in sight. Has this become the era of slow console development? (With the exception of Nintendo because they are just as bad as Sega when it comes to add-ons, but were instead successful with the Gamecube 2 and soon to be 3) I am waiting for new 360s to cost $99 in lieu of a NEW console on the horizon, but it just isn't happening! I should be awarded by Microsoft by getting one for free since I've somehow managed to keep my original Xbox from 2001 working.

But even if I could afford it, I don't trust what the 3DS does to my eyes....and before you tell me I can just turn the 3D off, why would I by something only to not use it's MAIN feature?

 

They played a preview build, not the entire game. Though it's incredibly unlikely, the game could feature the Werehog.

 

The game BETTER feature the werehog but instead of being a frustrating mess make him fun to play as. I'd like a Classic Werehog in a monitor that you use for like two puzzles.

 

Can you imagine if classic Sonic had a werehog form and he ended up playing excatly like Ristar? Everyone would shit bricks.

Of course that's not gonna happen. Pretty sure they're trying to keep Modern/Classic Sonics to what they are known for. You know, rumors of unlockable homing attack for classic excluded.

 

Classic Werehog that plays just like Ristar = yes please.

Though it might be better for the Werehog to not show up at all because, you know, shitstorms.

 

Oh yes indeedy, any sign of something like the werehog even if he played really well would make many knock points off the game by default. In fact I'm going to place a bet now that the inclusion of anything from Sonic 2006 may do just that if it's still in reviewers memories.

 

I absolutely love that Chemical Plant remix. Soon as I heard it in that gameplay trailer I fell in love!

 

Or even better, including Ristar himself in the game, instead of the Werehog who NEEDS to stay forever away from everything forever (for the love of God).
