Sonic Generations Megathread

Think we got the wrong filename Overlord, the Big Arm audio is the YouTube video's audio looped a bunch of times. The SFX are still in there.

EDIT: Okay, I hear the new bits in there, but the SFX are still present. Is this taken from TGS or something?

 

Okay, I think I may have just misinterpruted the definition of "rip" in this case. Rip as I imagined it, was the actual audio file ripped from the game files. In this instance, I'd define the audio as "direct feed", since the game itself is clearly still running with the music, resulting in the SFX.

Still kick-ass though :D

 

Wow, the Big Arms music is truly magnificent. Was not expecting the solo at midway. Reminds me of Project Chaos. Many thanks for these!

 

OK I can definitely hear the bassline issue. For that matter the arpeggio it's a part of doesn't come through very well -- are they just using a pitch bend? Would be nice if they could fine-tune it a bit more, but that seems unlikely.

I do like the guitar synth lead they're using on the boss music there though. That's pretty nice!

 

I freaking LOVE that Big Arm music.

I don't like the jump sound though. It sounds like the one from CD. Friggin' sine waves.

 

It's pretty sexual, I'm not ashamed to admit.

'Shroom Hill is... decidedly average.

 

That Big Arm song is Project Chaos Doomsday Zone epic-quality. Wow. Makes me more excited to see the remixes for Generations boss fights.

Nevertheless, I'll wait until rips are made of the Soundtest versions (without the SFX ;P) before I go download crazy and what not. What were your impessions OL? I'm sure you're not one to turn around and simply go 'loldimps' on any and everything regarding the handheld version.

That sounded very similar to project chaos's version...a good thing in my opinion

 

Exotic file extensions are all the rage.

 

Music, for me has always been one of the most important things. The fact it's only a semi-tone off makes it jarring, if it were a wrong note in the correct key, it wouldn't sound too bad.

 

I like how "energetic" that Mushroom Hill mix is compared to the original. It's not a huge difference, but it sounds nice.

 

Well, it's not like Mushroom Hill was ever a very fast-paced sort of song. Hell, if anything, this version feels more poppy and energetic than the original.
