I got 49:75 time wise following the same path as 1stKirbyever.
I just need to tidy it up by spindashing before the automated loop section and by getting my jumping angle right at the start to get on that upper path (I keep hitting th badnik then the wall to the left of it before getting on that platform)

Any chance someone could get a screenshot or two in the 3D mode to turn into MPO files to view on a 3DS, or does it not go into side by side mode that'd make for easy MPO making?

20 minutes of messing around in the demo and testing stuff, few glitches uncovered.

You think you know know it, from the original, but you'd BE WRONG. This Motobug is here to FUCK YOU UP. It's got like rocket boosters or some shit and it be charging at you at the speed of light and ramming right into your potbelly classic hero! He ain't messing with you, he is some serious shit. Some dictator of fun out to stop your shenanigans. Motobug has got it's eyes on you, IT'S EYES ON YOU! You can't hide, it'll charge right after you! It traps you, in an arena surrounded by spikes. Oh man, you're so fucked now! Motobug is coming to get ya! He's comming to get ya! WHERE IS YOUR GOD NOW?

The demo doesn't have modern sonic? I'm sorry then guys, I thought I had a credible enough source. But if you want someone to blame, blame destructoid.

About the gameplay being shown; I looks like what I hoped it would be. I had already conceded to the fact that it wouldn't be anywhere near perfect, but decided I could still look for it to be close enough. It looks like it's just that. The graphics, music, and gameplay all look on par with what I've wanted out of a Sonic game for years.
Let's just hope that most of modern Sonic's levels are more like city escape and less like green hill so that particular half of the game will be somewhat enjoyable.

I loled at the end of the motobug vid. Minichapman's video looks like Sonic has some seizures or having some exorist stuff (like the cat video I once saw) How did you get this thing happen anyway, accidentally or you did something there it to occur? Must try it too.

BTW you can go back to the pipe when you roll down from it and go up in the sky into lots of rings. Just hold left and you can go back and even jump so you don't go into the 2nd tube (You can be in the middle of the pipes place where the fishes are)

Just played it a couple of times (PS3 version), and something about the controls feel off. It's like there's a tiny bit of input lag. It just really annoys me.

I beg your pardon? There's no uncurling in this room.

Just curious, but looking at the videos, since Sonic is in 3D and all, how does he look when he loses a life? Does he still do the "fall off the screen" thing or does he simply fall on the ground and lay lifeless like his Modern counterpart?

So what do people who played it extensively think of the level design?

I went through it twice but the scenery and general 'pushing you forward' design made me unable to explore much. I had a hard time backtracking or even generally knowing where I was going.

Exploring has always been one of the reasons I enjoyed the games. It was never knowing the exact second where to jump to find shortcuts. Hopefully I am wrong, but ehhh. This demo was not very encouraging.

  12. Played it a bit ago before I had to come to work.

IT WAS BEAUTIFUL. The demo felt like an old school Sonic game!

As others have stated, there are minor niggles like the jumping and the rolling, but with those tweaked we will be looking at one of the best Sonic games ever!

Keep Going Sega...YOUR DOING IT RIGHT!!

There's no uncurling in mid-air, but on the ground you uncurl whenever you slow unless you keep a hold of down.

He does the classic, "angle at camera with wide eyes and fall of screen." Except when falling into an endless put. Mind you there's only two endless pits in the stage and neither would really kill you unless you were doing it purposely or really suck.

This is my biggest complaint that isn't technical. I had fun with the demo, and I liked the stage, but it felt way to forward. Like, we have the different paths sure, but they all feel like minor and ultimately only take you off the main path for a few seconds. The classics had much more of an exploration theme, there were several completely different paths to explore in most of the classic levels from Green Hill to Hydrocity. There isn't really any hidden areas to explore and the alternate paths feel more like shortcuts than alternate paths. This is only the first level, but it feels like it's suffering from being to small without much in the way of exploration and a style that kind of forces you forward and doesn't support exploration to much. See how it all develops in future stages, but I hope SEGA remembers that classic Sonic was more to many that just speed and platforming, but also exploration. I have said that for a while, it's good to see they have a good mixture of platforming and speed but it's missing the exploration element quite a bit, at least in this stage.

Its more awkward than that. The camera zooms in instantly, and he does the classic X pose, but there is something off about it. Then he just bounces up, goes off the screen at the bottom.

I was upset at the lack of a proper game over screen. Just a black screen with text? I WANT MY GAME OVER MUSIC SEGA.

Lovin' this demo. Definately got the classic feel to it but it took me a playthrough to get used to the controls.

    Staying sane.
I have absolutely no idea. I think (but this is on a limb) it must have been something to do with the transition of the camera angle.

It makes me remember how you could botch the 2D - 3D transitions in Unleashed, and go around in 3D in 2D sections. It looks like it might be the case with that wooden path.

THAT manages to be better than Crabmeat laughing at Sonic's misery.

Alright guys, I've almost done it. I've been sitting at the start of the stage for 90 minutes now, going to see what happens when we reach the 100 minute mark. Someone had to do it, post findings OF SCIENCE.
