Sonic Generations Megathread II

I've noticed the PC version doesn't seem to have the super-speed glitch and has some invisible walls set up in some areas to prevent jumping across huge sections of the level.

 

Just beat Planet Wisp modern at roughly 4 minutes, 40 seconds. Damn.

I actually said this.

So- was expecting the classic stages to be very safe, but there are some real surprises to be found!

 

The quickstep glitch is apparently a driver issue. I was using XBCD drivers with a 360 wired controller, but after switching to Microsoft's official drivers, the glitched stopped occurring.

That's about all I got though, there might be workarounds for other types of controllers. Hopefully a possible bugfix would address this problem.

 

I re-installed by video drivers (again) and made sure Windows was up to date. Only issue I'm having now is the online mode thing, that and Rouge's mission in Seaside Hill made me have to reboot since it froze. I can actually run the game at native resolution with only minor stuttering, so that's good. :T

Seriously though FUCK I want to play Online mode, this is killing me.

 

So I might have completely broken Rooftop Run Act 1. I found a way to skip half the level if not all of it. (I was able to get to the end of the Barrels in 20 seconds. Instead of having to waste 1 minute)


However, luck is a major factor... So, yeah. Hopefully I can record a run tomorrow~

 

Just beat Planet Wisp Act II at 4:59.95. I ALMOST missed it because I boosted and fell off the platform accidentally but then I said "NO FUCK YOU GAME" and used all of my mental capabilities to get to the goal ring. Almost missed it by 5 milliseconds...

So! Getting S-Rank on all 90 Challenges unlocks...

...absolutely nothing! Ah well, t'was expected. At least my hub world is all pretty and the gates are all shiny.

I checked the steam forum a few days back on that problem, and someone mentioned being able to beat the mission without destroying all the bots, since destroying certain ones trigger a freeze.

It was a bitch, but after a bunch of times doing it, I was able to get past the mission without a freeze.

As to having to reboot, no need, just ctrl alt del and open task manager, shut down generations from that.

 

I was so happy when I figured this out. In the can't touch this achievement you can + - get hit by the laser and still manage to aquire the achievement.  

 

I keep hearing you guys go on about this laser. I've beaten Time Eater about five times now between 360 and PC, and never been hit by the thing. Is it that hard to avoid?

 

I'm not exactly sure if certain bots cause it, at one point I managed to use the left path and got more than halfway through only by standard jump attacking everything but it froze on an attempted slide attack, next try it froze right at the first 3 bots.


*EDIT* I did notice however that it always freezes when a hit connects, so it might be easier to beat the level while avoiding attacking as much as possible. *EDIT*

 

Can you get hit by debris and still get it?

 

I've found Charmy to be a useless sack of shit with his hints.

Every other character has given me hints about mutliple red rings - Charmy is fixated on that one at the start that I found without his help.

Also no Effexor, you can't hit anything.

 

Oh is that what the female one is, I just thought it was a female Supersonic suit, I didn't know it was a classic Amy Rose

I am too use to 60fps on the pc that playing on the 360 now is really weird, also on pc even though I had reflections on low, they are 10 times better then the 360 reflections lol.

Speed running at 30fps is nuts annoying :/
