Sonic Generations Megathread II

You'd probably be the person to ask, have you had a lot of trouble with "table-outs", where sonic just randomly bounces off the table? Its how my runs ALWAYS end, and its Hella annoying =/

My highscrore is only about 83k because the table keeps killing me faster than I can get extra balls

 

I've had a few, I didn't realise they stole a life from you for it, but I guess they were lazy and Sonic actually "falls out" at the bottom of the table. Also this table loves to send my Sonic-ball down the right fall-through. But picking up 100 rings does give you extra tries, unfortunately you can't tell how many you have because they decided not to add a HUD display for it. Also going up the far left ramp is almost impossible without holding the ball int he right flipper, but going up the far right ramp is too easy, making coin collection hard as the ball can get stuck up there for some time.

 

So I just realized there's a mission requiring all the elemental shields called "With Your Powers Combined". It's in Planet Wisp.

 

Hah, you're right. That's awesome, though I'm left wondering if there's other cheeky references hidden in places. Might be worth looking for!

Speaking of Planet Wisp, either Charmy's full of shit or I'm missing something. What secret path is he buzzing on about? I've tried you guys' advice on the previous pages, but I cannot find that Red Star Ring to save my life. "A secret path is hidden in the path connecting the first factory to the outside. A Red Star Ring's hidden there. Use the Pink Spike!" is the specific hint, but I just can't figure out what he means. EDIT: Never mind, I got it. I thought it'd be near the entrance.

Also, Pyrii-- I tried to beat your Casino Night score but I didn't even come close. You're the reigning champ for now. Nice work!

 

One I noticed was the City Escape Classic mission where you bounce around on springs is called "The Rite of Spring", which is a reference to a ballet by Stravinsky of the same name.

 

Out of curiosity, is there any way to hit the Egg Dragoon when you go into 2D mode, other than the Wall Jump section? I'm doing the Dragoon on Hard Mode and that section eats up my time like no other. I managed to S rank the Dragoon on Normal Mode, at least.

Also, Death Egg Zone or Live & Learn playing in the background while fighting the Egg Dragoon? Awesome.

 

I think the only reason they put Live And Learn in the game in the first place was to convince people that replaying the Time Eater was a good idea.

 

Yes. Sometimes he comes close to you and you have the opportunity to jump up and homing attack its stomach. Same applies for the 3D section if you get close enough. Also a tip, don't boost in the 2D section and you'll likely get 2 chances to hit him each 2D section.

 

The Egg Dragoon will sometimes move in front of you after firing those freeze shots in 2D mode, that creates a small window of opportunity to attack him but it's so rare you might as well not rely on it ever happening in the span of a single battle.

 

But, once Egg Dragoon is in "Separation Attack" mode, these moments become much more frequent.

 

So, PC version, if I want to stop careening to the right when I play as Modern Sonic, is the only solution really to delete my save file? Why the fuck is this port so terrible

 

Arrgh... the only S-Rank I can't get in the missions is the Planet Wisp doppelgänger race...

Does anyone have any tips? My fastest was 5:27... I honestly can't see how I'm supposed to shave 27 more seconds...

You mean the quickstep in random directions until you die glitch?

I found a better solution, simply load any Classic level, exit and go back to the Modern level, the glitch will be fixed.

 

That seems to fix the zooming in hub thing so I guess that fixes the quickstep thing, not that it's not going to pop up again later. Now if they fixed the stuttering every 3 seconds thing and the crashing online mode thing then we got a game here :v:

 

So the general consensus is that the PC has a fairly level badass:dumbass ratio of differences from the console versions?

 

The console has humongous game-breaking bugs?
