I'd much rather him be silent than Urkel, mabye Martin Burke, no point anyone bitching now though, game is made and released, Classic VA debate over lol The pantomime works for him though, if anything I woulda thought the most likely thing would be Roger Craig just voice classic Sonic right at the end saying "see ya guys" just before him and Tails jump the portal (mabye in a slightly higher pitch)
I think the whole "Classic Sonic should be mute" argument is based on the fact that talking has no place in old Sonic games, but it looks odd when he's the only character who can't talk in Generations (even Classic Tails). It's probably safer to keep him quiet than tarnish the beloved guy with a voice that doesn't fit thousands of fans' expectations, though.
Hey, as you said, it's awkward that he's the only one that can't talk. I mean they just went with the current VAs to do the Retro Characters that weren't Sonic. I mean, Retro Tails and Robotnik (sorry Sega, I still call him that, still I guess I appreciate you even bothered to mention the name) are just as beloved yet they gave them voices anyways. What other harm would they've done to just simply have Roger speak in a higher pitch? I was glad to find out that we also had some Spinball representation in the music department. Was disappointed to find out the remix wasn't anywhere near as good as Drossin's original demo and revisit from Sonic Boom and Virtual Sonic respectively. Then again, most of the tracks that aren't the main acts in each zone or Hub world (and that's considering most of Retro's zone remixes just grate on me) are dreadful. With Casino Night Zone's status as Preorder DLC, I was perplexed to hear a lovely Big Band interpretation of the song. So much effort put into something as insignificant as a minigame most of us won't even play. Spoiler I also love Sega's sick sense of humour. "Enjoy your future! It's gonna be great!" Tongue in cheek, eh, guys?
There was alot of tongue in cheek in the game, but I don't think Spoiler "enjoy your future, it's gonna be great!" or Spoiler "Scheweeet, and you're only gonna get BETTER!" were actually meant to be, I think they actually believe it.
(Gameplay aside.) Simple, Sonic's overall fanbase is a bitchin' melting pot of all kinds, and to make a game intended for everyone, from nostalgic creepers of the sonic's versions of their heads to weird kids who like talking animals from all colours, you really NEED forget all kind of logic. We all know how some people in general would react to a talking Classic Sonic even if it's ONE, ONE simple line, I mean some guys are making a mess of one particular line from the game "Nobody call me that anymore." (People who heard it know what's about.) Spoiler Oh sorry that we can't use a name that were created from the people who made the 1ยบ precious game for our silly looking character, that's probably is twisted with nostalgic goggles and other versions of the character that hardly have things in common. (Disclaimer: I use and love both names.) Some people are already uncomfortable just with the existence of the "Friends." that hate was mainly originated by alternative styles gameplay that hardly matters on this game (maybe some reason on some of the missions but it isn't as severe as before.) Don't get me wrong, I'm not on some sort of white horse, I'm not refering and insulting someone in particular and I also fit in this group with some of my tastes, I'm human after all, you might even call it hypocrisy. I just say everyone from SEGA who worked on this field really made an effort regarding all the mythos of the game, (I find hilarious some scenes just scream "YES THEY ARE THE SAME GUY" regarding past/present characters), even if some logic had to be ignored to escape the claws of potential costumers.
That was the normal version though (I think?). Sounds like it would've been an ok supersonic theme. Oh Hinchy also I noticed that theres no cutscene/event music and the jingle where you free sonic's friends is missing.
Cutscene/event music isn't generally kept with the stage music, and for prerendered stuff it can't be easily extracted since the voice acting is there too. That's something you'll have to wait for the OST to get, I'd bet.
I swear to god, the Classic remix of Seaside Hill is making me feel nostalgic as fuck and I don't know why. I've never even played Heroes or seen it in action. As much as the gameplay fucks me off, I gotta say this is the best Sonic soundtrack of them all!
A couple of things; To answer my previous question, Spoiler I haven't seen any cutscene pertaining to Sonic '06. Intended? There was another discussion about Casino Night; whether it was already on the disc, unlocked with a DLC key, or if it was an actual DLC. I noticed that Casino Night was in someone's music rip. Was it from the CD or were you able to redeem your DLC and took it from there? Last topic; I think I liked the live version of Classic Escape from the City better than the in-game version. The frequent, 'Oh yeah!'s made those parts of the song not feel empty. I feel like they should've put that version in without the sounds of a ring being collected.
Casino Night is likely a key. While generally a shady practice, this is simply a preorder bonus. This isn't to say this will be the general practice for DLC in this game though, seeing as how I don't think any other DLC has been found on the disc.
So it looks like I'm able to pick up my copy tomorrow night at midnight, according to a text I just got from Gamestop. Sweet.
Tomorrow as in October 31 or tomorrow as in November 1? I pre-ordered too, and haven't gotten a text.
They want me to finalize my payment tomorrow night (Oct. 31) and then pick it up at 12:01am (Nov. 1). We probably just had a lot of Augustans preorder Uncharted and they want to get their other preorders out of the way too.
