I hated.... HATED Planet Wisp when I first played it. But like most of the game's harder levels, it's a TON of fun once you actually get good at it. I still haven't managed to do that for act 1, yet. I agree on having to use spike WAY too often there, but rocket? Seriously? The only section where it's done repeatedly is in that rise right near the end.

ON THAT NOTE! A discussion I've been wanting to have for a while!

    What's your LEAST favorite level?

I can't pick a favorite, but this one's easy for me...

City Escape Act 2. It's just... kind of empty and short. The streetboarding is okay, though it's disappointing that the fastest path is basically to boost through cars. The middle section is fine; I love this part of the level, but it just goes by too fast. But the main reason I don't like it is because of that freakin' truck chase at the end, which LOOKS great the first few times you play it, then just becomes a snoozefest. SA2's wasn't nearly so dull, because it was shorter and had those trick ramps you could jump off of if you had perfect timing. Generation's chase just doesn't give you a damn thing to do, haha. When I play it now, unless I'm about to set a new best time, I usually just exit when I get to it.

I'm not saying it's terrible or anything, it's just the dullest level for me. Fortunately, Act 1 more than makes up for it.

Agreed. There are so many more interesting sections from the original CE they could have recreated. The one 2D section for Sonic is incredibly dull in that level. It's empty and lifeless, although it's open and that's kind of cool.

Funny that they didn't include any slide parts for modern Sonic though, seeing as how SA2 was the first game to use a sort of slide under gimmick.

Haha, I forgot to mention the 2D section, it just blurs by so quickly. Oh! And the remix. The song itself is fine, though not as good as the original track IMO. It just sucks that there's basically NO way you're going to hear anywhere close to the whole thing. I played a run without boosting, really taking my time, and STILL didn't hear the whole song.

I thought both acts of Rooftop Run were fairly disappointing. Act 1 was really blocky, quite linear and shallow. It's a shame too because there were a few cool ideas tucked up in there, and the music is stellar. Act 2 was just so tame compared to the original from Unleashed. It didn't flow too well either. It felt cramped.

Planet Wisp Act 1. Act 2 is stellar once you get a hold of it.

City escape act 2 isnt so great but act 1 rocks.

This. The (bed of) spikes at the very beginning seem to have been jammed in there at the last second just to prevent the player from getting air off the first hill. Your timing has to be perfect or you ruin your speedrun before it even begins. This one detail has made me rage to a point where no other video game has driven me before. Yeah, it even beat Shadow's Hard Mode in my book, which resulted in a leisurely drive to Gamestop to purchase another Wavebird. This level is full of little bullshit that can easily throw off your jumps (staying on the top path once you enter the factory isn't too hard, unless the platforms aren't where you need 'em to be when you get there), and the spike Wisp controls like a slug trying to stay on top of a rolling basketball. It's like they merely watched a video of Colors' powerups and never looked back.

Y'know, that brings up one major issue I have with the Spike Wisp: what the fuck determines when it hugs corners and when it flies off?

I have never be able to understand this. Where did this concept even come from? Is it supposed to signify how Classic Sonic doesn't entirely have his bearings when he's in Spike form? It's almost never useful.

The PC version is now 66% off (so it costs about 10 bucks) now on Steam as one of the daily Winter sale deals: http://store.steampowered.com/app/71340/

You're looking way too much into it. It's a bug most likely, usually when you're going very fast.

  11. Is the Pinball DLC out yet? I so very much want it. :(

    edit: For PC

According to SPUF (Steam Powered User Forums) The latest patch for Sonic Generations (released today) fixed the Chemical Plant Zone stuttering.

I can confirm. It's still just a TAD noticeable, but barely. Flows just fine, now. Didn't notice any other changes, but it was a pretty small patch; probably just changed the way CPZ caches itself.

Considering Modern Warfare 3 is still the game that made more money than anything else in the entertainment industry, they probably have no problem at all with Sonic selling more than MW3 on Steam for one day. :P

    Glad I waited.

    Especially glad I didn't pay $50 for a console release. :v:

I was wondering, should I say yes? I wasn't really looking forward to this game from the very beginning, to be honest.
