    Iizuka: Portable sonics? *laughs*

Single most upsetting thing about the horribad 3ds version is their stage selection. I'm not getting it.

Is there any HQ vids of the boss battles without some idiot prattle on about how omgawesome this game is?!

Btw, Since I haven't a damned idea what a .dds file is I converted the concept art files into .png:

About Hinchy's music rip, I notice some music missing like omochao's hint music before a stage/boss battle. what else is missing from the rip?

I made a mistake about how the final boss is played out:

Pressing "Y" does NOT switch the Sonics, but allows the Sonic you aren't directly controlling to boost ahead and attack like a cannon. The game switches from 2D to 3D on its own. My bad! There is also an attack that slows down time.

    Also, final boss battle footage:

So let me get this straight....This game takes place directly after Sonic Colors, a Wii/DS Game....something that wasn't for the PS3/360. But the Colors story doesn't continue on the Wii (and only the 3DS/PS3/360/capable PC). I guess SEGA expects everyone to have at a minimum 2 consoles to fully enjoy the series? It's just funny that a wisp from Colors ended up on the PS3/360 in an alternate form. I still don't understand how Eggman essentially added mechanical crap to the thing to be able to control it along with time itself. As much as I feel like having to play "catch up" starting with Sonic 2006, I don't find it logical to buy a PS3 or X360 because as much as they deny predecessors, thus going beyond the usual 5 year cycle, I don't want to be behind continuously.

I am tempted to get Colors (and skip UnWiished) since it came out a year ago.

Anyways, does this mean the end of Eggman, since he's trapped with himself in "The Void"? But then Sonic 4 would have never happened after Generations...

Either way, I was ecstatic in finding out Eggman was the actual bad guy after all was said and done!

But Sonic 4 isn't after Generations, it is after Sonic and Knuckles, because FUCK continuity.

  7. Well, if you have a 3DS, all you need is that if you want to experience both Colors and Generations. Might not be the canon versions of what happened in both games, but still.

    About that final boss battle:

I found it cleaver that although this appears to be yet again another Super Sonic battle in space....it's actually a battle travelling through time!

I just don't see where the series could go after this.

But most importantly, where is Big the Cat? Everyone is present but him (aside from the whole Fang/Nack/Heavy/Bomb conspiracy).

There wasn't anything saying he isn't. Unrelated, but in the comics (lolcanon) he is a licensed Surgeon and Physicist.

Most fans don't like Big, so they shafted him to a neon sign cameo in the Casino Night DLC. Bit of a shame, really, I kind of wanted to see him fishing in Seaside Hill during the main level.

That's not actually in the music files, as it's not really music. Most likely it's played as a looping sound effect; I don't know where those are stored.

The only stuff I left out of my rip were the songs that are absolutely unchanged from other games (meant to be used in the Select Music mode) and those "TARGET" mixes (basically midis played through a softsynth -- I can't imagine these are for anything important).

    Exquisite.

  13. Sonic 4 is an unspecified amount of time after Sonic 3K, Sonic CD and Classic Sonic's POV of Generations. Until Episode II comes along we have no reason to assume anything has changed position in the timeline (both S3K and SCD can stay where we always thought they were, as Sonic 4 supposedly carries on story threads from both of them). 'Fuck continuity'? It seems like they're making a genuine effort. The ending of Generations loosely explains how Classic began to get a grasp on some new moves (which follows into Sonic 4, which has the homing attack), acknowledges the switch-over from Robotnik to Eggman, and follows on directly from Colours.

Fuck continuity indeed. If the next 3D iteration follows directly from Generations as Generations did with Colours, and Sonic 4 Ep II ties up S3K/SCD confusion whilst hinting slightly at Sonic's next adventure from that point (Sonic Adventure), the continuity would be in the best shape it's ever been since the Saturn-Dreamcast crossover and ensuing confusion. :V

This game makes a SUPERIOR effort in fixing a lot of continuity within the series, although some questions still remain. How does Sonic know Blaze and Silver outside of 2006? And...the Egg[men] must have found a way out? It just sucks that [Classic] Sonic had to go through 4 versions of the giant Egg Robo (Sonic 2, 3K, Generations, Sonic 4). This all leads me to the conclusion....either the next 3D game is going to be Sonic 5 or Sonic Adventure 3. But I don't see many more classic games happening between Sonic 4 and Sonic Adventure in the continuity of things...

  15. Of course the Eggmen found a way out, and probably to their original times, too. It's just a sort of reoccurring joke thing that at the end of each recent game, after the credits, Eggman ends up in a situation like this. First time around it is in isolation (in a desert? I forget, it's been a while) with Orbot at the end of Unleashed. Then he ends up in space with his robo-companions in Colours, and this time around he ends up stuck in the abyss of nothingness with himself, at least until the next game comes along which may explain his escape, like Generations explained how he got out of being trapped in space.

Anything not yet explained will hopefully be explained more in the next few games to tie up the loose ends. Except Blaze/Silver/Nega/Solaris - I imagine that's not getting a conclusion anytime soon.

Fixing? hell no... Establishing one... hell yes... linked most of the games together, the early years the character were indeed younger, explain how Eggman came back from the last game, etc... etc..

  17. I noticed in the video with the final boss footage that there was also footage of Modern Super Sonic in levels.

Looks like he can fly now, but when he does, his rings drain SUPER quickly. Might make it a tad easier to get some collectibles, though.

Trying to get outta Dr. Dre mode, and actually release an album.
Didn't rush take place before 2006? It would explain why she's in the intro scene.

Seeing this, now I'm now sure if you actually switch between Sonic's, or if that icon means you throw the Sonic you aren't playing as like a cannon against the Time Eater. If that's the case, then the switching is automatic. The music still changes, though. Obviously, Modern Sonic's is in 3D, and Classic Sonic's is in 2D.
