    Welp, that guy just made the best Sonic Generations mod. Sorry Dario, you should have just fucked with textures instead of putting effort into something.

    While Dario's achievements are great I do wish there were more level mods out there. I mean these programs should help speed up that process, but I just hope that Generations can become a Sonic playground of sorts where people make new levels for it. Basically I want this game to be what Sonic 2 was to the hacking community 6 years ago.

    Making 3D assets requires a lot more time, patience and skill than noodling in mspaint.

    edit: and if you're going to say 'but a lot of sanic hacks simply just use preexisting art and are all about level design', making 3D level design require a lot more time, patience and skill than noodling around with pre-designed tiles.

    Look at the average 'porting project' for example.

    What do you think? He wants Sonic to control like the classics and not rely as heavily on scripted events. I mean I certainly don't think classic Sonic is that bad, but he's far from perfect.

    I'd also love if someone could get the spindash working in 3D...

    It seems Generations hacking has jumped in the most recent months, that's exciting. As much as I would love to see Dario make Generations his bitch, I have a slight sinking feeling that it may also change Generations into an official Sonic Blitz engine, and y'all have seen some of those.....

    All in all, still very good stuff.

    Ain't nothing wrong with Blitz Sonic. It's teaching some people how to work in 3D space. That's important. Their work may be a little rough at first, but as they get older they're only going to get better.

    Another reason behind the lack of generations levels is the fact that the workflow currently requires 3ds max, specifically for collision and paths. 3ds max is not cheap, so that's definitely a barrier to use. Blender is no good, since someone would have to write their own blender havok plugin as the havok team hasn't done that yet. And you'd need to write another path tool but that wouldn't be too difficult.

    I can't say much due to having no keyboard, but that is awesome Dario. I wish I had your brain.

    Now don't you say that! everything you did for SADX was remarkable and you were and still are working with a game you still don't fully understand. your someone to really look up to MM, don't down yourself.

    Doesn't matter MM, without allot of your research level editors or anything SADX hacking related wouldn't be as developed as they are. you keep the train going, thank you for that.

    Agreed. Split, structconverter and modloader are godsends. SADX modding would be in the dark ages without them.

    Why are you making this not just a comparison of SonicGLVL versus SADXLVL(2)? I get that I've done a lot of good things, even if about five people can use them fully. I'm not good at 3D programs, I'm not a modeler, I have no idea how modeling programs work.

    This^ is basically why you see so many ports out there. As much as I wanna make a full original stage, level design, scaling different parts of the level properly, modeling a bunch of assets from scratch, etc. are all damn hard. It's about a hundred times easier to grab a stage that's already been made and start throwing objects onto it.

    If you guys wanna see more stages, maybe you all should try collaborating on a stage. Pooling together all the collective talent here into one project might turn out something pretty good.
