If people are converting BlitzSonic stages to work in Sonic Generations, I hope somebody does Chishado's Lost World. I had a soft spot in my heart for that stage for a really long time. It would probably work extremely well as a Sonic Generations stage, given how it contains a pretty nice mixture of platforming and long straightaways perfect for boosting. It's also one of the more detailed BlitzSonic maps I've seen, so if somebody did a good job it would probably turn out really well.

No videos yet, but I'm currently working on importing the original Planet Wisp Act 1 into Generations. Problem is, I spent the last hour or so precisely placing objects in SonicGLVL only for them to be missing the next time I opened it. I saved like a thousand times too, so I don't know what the hell happened.

Your welcome to use the loop template I made as an example.

    DOWNLOAD NOW!

Also there was brief discussion on loops in my topic awhile back.

Made this next screen based on the above file as a quick example on how extreme you could take it.

Hopefully once we know how ghost data works, we can figure out how to make it work with data from Dude's path recording program.

The ghost data seems hard coded actually I don't see any files resembling to be anything for the ghost data.

Thanks, but I already did figure out how to do it in SketchUp (a couple pages after my original post) as it is a slightly different process, since SketchUp lacks splines, and a couple other things (as far as I know).

Though admittedly, these don't look nearly as good as yours do; I just wanted to try to do it in SketchUp succesfully.

if you think about it, than its the same. place the spline points in 3d space, move the handels than extrude.

In 3DSMax, there's a helix spline, which is the go-to tool for loops and corkscrews. All that's left is extruding the line into a shape through the extrude modifier and weld tools. If you want a step-by-step, I'll do it later today.

I would love a step by step tutorial.I've actually use the helix tool before, but haven't achieve the desired effect.Although I did have an idea of using the skin modifier. There's also the issue of texture since I just suck at UVs.

I made a tutorial thread yesterday
Hope you guys can post the tutorials there.
I was going to do a loop tutorial but now that Jason will be , I wont have to hahah.
although I'm not sure if his will be dealing with the loop base model and UV mapping setup. Besides just the helix.

If anyone is interested, I know how to make loops and corkscrews in Blender. I could post a quick tutorial here.

This is the method we use for Melponterations, it also gives you the advantage of being able to make a spline, create the loop from it, and export the same spline as Sonic's movement path; no need to manually create one for the loop. Super useful.

This is the technique I use for making drop-loops and any other kind of path that doesn't need robust banking control, but requires side-rails. There is another technique involving Lofts that I use for more complicated paths, I'll make a video showing off those at some other point. You can probably see how most of speed highway was made now.

    Here's the example file:

That's a pretty handy method. Just need banked turns. You can totally make s-curves with this. Now if only I knew how to unwrap this.

The FAQ part was directed towards the people on Youtube. I've already mentioned many of those answers on here.
Seriously guys, unless you REALLY want to see my thoughts and walls of text, you can skip the first 2 minutes and 40 seconds of the video. >:)

Dude, I get a nice Hot Wheels vibe in your video, which is all sorts of neat.
    Here's my method.
