They don't exist yet, as far as I know. Sorry =/

If you want to start with 3ds max though, find tutorials for box modeling with Edit Poly, drawing lines and using 2d shapes, lofting and the sweep modifier, UVW mapping, and the material editor.

  2. I have no idea where else to post this, but it's great to see the models being used in SFM:

I really wish that person had used this audio instead.

Yesterday I revisited this, and realized an extremely easier way to make a loop in SketchUp. All you need to do is:

Create the closed loop (ie square w/pulled out circle)

    Group it together.

Copy it (via Move Tool then Ctrl, NOT Ctrl+C), and place the duplicate right next to the original.

Push out the bottom left quadrant of the first, then push out the top half of the duplicate.

Now, select the top rectangle left from when the original closed loop was pushed (and the lines connected to it), and simply use Move Tool->Alt to move it to the top of the duplicate.

If you did it right, you should have something like these:

This is quite an easier and straightforward way to do this, and I am a bit surprised that I didn't realize it before, given my past experience with the program.

Sorry if the directions were confusing, I'd probably make video tutorials if I had the proper software to do so.

    Also,

To make certain shapes, in SketchUp, you kind of have to think a little outside the box. The best way I know of to make any type of sloped/curved path is to literally draw it on the face of the shape and Push/Pull Tool the excess out.

As for the directional thing, Orbit Tool is your friend here. If it isn't recognizing the direction you want, use Orbit to move to a different view (I.e. try moving above the model to move something to the left/right of it, or moving to a side view if you want to move something up or down).

If you wish to proceed in using SketchUp, I can help you out if you want, with problems that may arise.

So....how 'bout them Tropical Resort Act 2?

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eu_bpjXpyfA&feature=channel&list=UL

Apparently someone was supposed to upload a GIA tutorial so he could put GIA on the stage, but the uploader's taking his time, so he decided to just release the stage as it is.

He better not, because he clearly has no idea what he's doing(And I would rather not link to the awful video he did about it). All the tutorials that are needed are already available in text format.

All it can cause is just people complaining to me their stuff doesn't work because of someone spreading false info, in video format.

And now for a truly awful hack, from the guy who brought you Eco-Sonic and horribly-mangled GIA:

My God, man, what did you do to Speed Highway?

EDIT: Also, Dario, I know what video you're talking about, let's just leave it at that.

Haha my god all of that guys mods are hilariously bad. The marble zone one with about 200 red rings in a row that start to go invisible half way through, and the radical highway one with a 'Spider-Sonic' that's boost animation I assume is supposed to be a spider sense but looks more like his head is on fire.

Sorry about interrupting the "bad stage design" discussion...

The fastest thing alive just got faster.
I gotta give some credit to Lobotomy. I used his "Fixing Generations FOREVER" mod as the basis for Hyper Sonic's massive speed increase. Specifically I copied the Super Sonic velocity + Super Sonic boost parameters, then made them even faster.

Something I wrote originally for Zoney, but helped out that guy with it as well. If you want it I can give you a link for it. It's just a simplistic script to import the collision mesh only, so no hacking Colours' collision with it :v:

On the discussion on level desgin, here's something cool:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xbnu8K-KlPk

It's actually really good. But then again, he did do stages for Blitz, so that might have helped.

Probably not. When it comes to people who make crappy levels for the BlitzSonic engine, that's about as good as it'll get unless the person making the level has any sense of level design.

The first level in that video, imo, is terrible. The one following that (tropical one) is better, but still bad. Cool music though.

The second one is supposed to be Misty Lake from Sonic & the Black Knight. I actually told him to learn better object placement but on newer videos it doesn't exactly look like he has learned anything.

By the way, any idea how doppelganger missions work? I'd love to see some custom ghost data.

It's a shame Paper Luigi (Or TMP888 if you prefer) is so limited to stages within the Blitz Sonic community. For some reason it seems that most of the time he's picking the old, basic Sketch Up stages every newbie used to make. The Misty Lake one isn't too bad - though I have have a slight bias because I know the creator well - but like others have said, the object placement could really use some work. I remember the original BSU Misty Lake stage had some rails going round a pillar, they don't seem to be implemented here.

Oh yeah, first post. I couldn't find an introduction thread, so I figured I'd just jump into the conversation.
