That’s substantially bigger than the prior two. I think those were only around 1-3GB. I’m guessing the new audio files for the story and new tracks are a big part of it.

Anyway, I’ve yet to see it go live on Xbox… I’m sitting at my desk waiting to hit download then head to bed. I’m going to pop some melatonin in a minute so I hope it doesn’t take too long to pop up.

 

Had to verify game file integrity before the game properly updated, fingers crossed I guess.

Update for preservationists: the old content is still in the game. I won't say more than that for spoilers sake, but the old contest does still exist.

 

Yeah, can verify you wont need to start a new save or anythign like that. Just go to the Island 5 spawn on an existing save file, theres a way to start the new content there

 

The game DOES tell you to make a new save file since the last story will overwrite the previous one.

 

Okay, update finished, and confirmed. Just booted this game up and NOPE they still haven't fixed the mouse camera fuck this shit I'm out

Seriously for the love of God can someone please mod a mouse camera that isn't terrible I'm begging you

 

This update definitely wasn't half asked. I can tell you that much. Have fun.

A shame Knuckles glide is some absolute trash

 

I can't get past Amy, can I skip her

 

You're gonna have to suck it up and deal with the 5 minute segment

 

Honestly I didn’t find Amy too bad, but Knuckles is an entirely different story. I don’t know if it’s intentional, but you’re dropped into an area where it’s really easy to encounter guardians…when you’re seriously underpowered and rings are scarce. Knuckles’ glide is also extremely jank, with a stiff startup and awful turning arc. Coming out of the glide doesn’t carry momentum, which is kind of useful for stopping on platforms, except it requires you to glide in the first place and the platforms aren’t big enough to accommodate this movement.

Seriously disappointed so far. I never played Sonic 06, but I imagine what I’m experiencing isn’t a million miles away from it. Gameplay that’s clunky to the point of frustration with little feedback as to how I’m supposed to do things. Doesn’t help that, with the clusterfuck of platforms, the world is even more difficult to keep track of than usual.

 

Props to Sonic Team for giving younger fans a window into how and why "Sonic's shitty friends," came to be.

 

Where is the new story content on Ouranos? Do I have to fight Supreme again?

 

Yeah if you weren't already a fan of Frontiers, this update is not going to change your mind.
I'm already expecting the doom and gloom essays from the usual suspects.

 

Honestly it’s just made my perception of it worse. I had a decent enough time with my initial playthrough of the base game upon release, but this update has forced me to stop not long after starting. Probably doesn’t help that I’m playing in the early hours of the morning (for reasons outside of the timing of release), so I’m likely to be more irritable right now, but damn, I genuinely feel like this is the most Sonic’s sucked ass in a while. People give crap to Forces for being a mediocre game, but at least it’s a mediocre game that works.

 

Knuckles is the only character that's really off with the glide. Amy takes getting used to (and putting deceleration at 100), and Tails is perfect out of the gate. And I love the new challenges and puzzles. These trials are also extra tough.

I would agree though that if you already don't like Frontiers (and by that I mean you think "at least Forces is a mediocre game that works"), it won't change your mind.
