A shame it releases so late, but I guess they want the patch to go live while the devs are in-office. That's not entirely uncommon in the games industry.

Lol, Tails in a mech

After 100%ing Frontiers last year when it was released I haven't played it since. So l'm looking forward to trying all the new content.

anyone notice that Sonic in cyberspace has a different hud? He has those number things from Forces, Moon Rings, and Flickies. It also seems like these may be already-existing cyberspace stages with different object layouts. Wasn't expecting that at-all, honestly.

What I am very curious about is if that conversation with Sage happens before or after Sonic climbs the towers and gets corrupted in the base game. Are they recontextualizing the tower climbs, or are they adding MORE towers?

EDIT: The post above Ninja'd me. Seems there are now 4 towers on Ouranos. I kinda doubt they replace the towers on Rhea now.

This is a lot. Cyberspace contains what looks to be an additional challenge in 2-4 (the radical highway one), but there's also completely new layouts, like that one with all the cars, or Sonic's new green "rocket boost" meter (whatever that is). Also, the one on 2-4 seems to be a race against a "ghost" Tails? It's a black version of his headshot. This is all interesting and frankly will be hilarious if all this time has gone by and they still refuse to fix the turning in Cyberspace.

Also, we know why the OST is so huge now. It's remixing the cyber themes, since we heard a new version of Arrow of Time in the trailer.

Outside that, Tails/Knuckles/Amy look fun, though it appears Ouranos is just a big pile of platforming sections for them mashed together, and the color-coded platforms are tacky. They all have unique attacks, but more than that, they're each shown to be using movement beyond what I expected. Tails whipping out the fucking SA2 mech, Amy's new hover in addition to her triple jump (the tarot card motorcycle is completely goofy but I had it spoiled for me), and I noticed Knuckles using the homing attack in addition to gliding, which makes me wonder if all of them can do it? Not sure about that, but hey, we got more towers to climb (you can see they're new because this entire trailer is set on Ouranos, and you can't see Rhea from there).

Speaking of Ouranos, wow, there's a lot of new shit here. Obviously the platforms and towers, but every enemy they showed was not here before. There's new versions of Ninja and Spider (I think the white one is different from vanilla? The pink one is obviously new), and I'm seeing buzzbombers and moto bugs as well. I'm also...possibly tripping, but did they expand the draw distance? It looks like some platforms are visible from further away, but others I can still see popping in. Not like it makes a difference for me, since I'm a PC player.

This is all not counting what I assume will be revamped Supreme/End battles.

Yeah so I dunno. It might be fucking amazing? I hope it doesn't fumble the landing or something stupid, because I'm pretty excited. I almost wish I could skip Elden Ring with my friend group tonight...but I'm not going to do that, because I'm a good friend.

 

I almost wish I could skip life because I won't be able to play this until tomorrow at night. My girlfriend will be playing imediattely after it releases though, so I can at least avoid the suffering of waiting for almost an entire day without knowing how exactly you access the new story content

Hopefully Amy is actually fun to play as this time around. She's sucked in basically every playable form so far.

 

Is there a dislike button? Or a tomato?

 

Tails can fly in and outside of the Cyclone, Knuckles can glide and HA (so I guess the others can too?) and Amy can tarot jump. Why would you even play as Sonic at that point?
