Seriously it’s been that way for years, it’s nice to see that this pulled a reverse Sonic cycle and looked initially bad only to progressively look better. Let us have this.

And I still talk about Sonic 3 and Mania and sometimes Generations, people like to remember fun games :V I also talk about 06… people like to remember bad games too lol

  2. Because when this happens, even constructive criticism tends to get ignored. Anyone that has anything remotely negative to say will be silenced no matter how reasonable it is.

Sonic (?): Coming summer of 2055...?
If you want nuanced discussion that badly, I fear you're looking in the wrong places for it.

Ya that’s true this is a Sonic fan site, our opinions are likely going to be very strong one way or the other. Plus who is the constructive criticism even for? Unless Sonic Team is reading this board it’s not like I can do anything about the jank in Cyberspace. The only time that’s applied was Mania and the original batch of classic Sonic remakes, when Stealth and Taxman did read some of our bug threads. Origins’ bug thread might have gone on deaf ears.

  5. So it’s not just rails, pulleys, springs etc. to get anywhere that isn’t a flat plain? If there are some dynamic open ended ways to reach some areas I’d love to see it because so far it’s been rails all the way down, even when they teased momentum it was just a rail physics quirk inherited from Forces rather than something like slope jumps.

  6. I'm well aware...

Just answering why its annoying to deal with.

That's kind of the only reason I'd go to discuss things on a message board, though. If I wanted extreme side taking I'd just stick to social media. lol

Game still has me extremely on the fence and I don't know if I'll like it or not (I'm open to give it a shot, but with many reasons still why I'm not keen on it). Would be alright to hear it's a decent game on a base level; just kinda don't want to deal with dogpiling if the game still doesn't end up in my favor.

    It is.
It's difficult to quantify though. If the fact that you don't have the same freedom of movement as in, say, BotW bothers you that much...I doubt this is going to change your mind.

But as somebody still pissed that SA2 grinding never came back, and was not enthused about the "floating rails and platforms" in released material so far...I had a blast. The devil really is in the details.

Yeah, there's a reason I made an account here back in 2008 instead of just continuing to talk about Sonic in the comments section of YouTube videos. :V

I kinda meant "the internet" in general guys :(

Edit: it should go without saying but ridiculous dogpiling won't be tolerated here, by the way.

The inherent premise of Sonic dicking around in an open world intrigues me so I'll probably wait for a sale. When Sonic Forces came out me and my buds pitched in to get it on release night to laugh at it, but I don't think Frontiers is gonna have that sorta appeal.

  12. I thought we murder people who have different opinions than us though, that's the Sonic fan way :V

Sonic games are so weird that you really do have to play them to get an understanding of how good or bad they are, you can't just go by thr visuals alone..

How is that weird? That's how games in general work.

Same way you need to see an illustration, or hear a piece of music, in order to know if it's good or bad.

That one "Sonic was never good" scribe after Mania's announcement was annoying, but IGN has been fairer to Sonic in reviews than most other reviewers, so the spite towards them specifically was always overblown.

In terms of review scores, Colors, Generations, Mania, Colors Ultimate, Team Sonic Racing (all either 8 or 8.5) and even Forces (6.9) got fair enough reviews from them!

IGN via Stalzmann was the FIRST to go "guys, Frontiers is actually pretty good, the bad b-roll footage Sega sent us is a bad first impression."

If IGN gives Frontiers less than an 8, I'll be completely baffled. But I won't be as baffled if they still get heat when they don't.
