Those are some wonderful pictures, he truly does have a lot of talent. Though in the first picture I honestly don't understand what's going on at the top. A whole bunch of floating platforms (a floating dock even) with a vine suspended in mid-air....I'm just kind of confused. How's the water even getting into that pipe anyways? I do like the looks of the bottom half of the picture; looks fun to explore.

It's just bits and peices of possible level design. Stuff where those things are coming from are all offscreen (like where the waterfall is coming from, the rest of the dock / the land the dock is attached to).

Ah, that makes sense. Thanks for clearing that up. Can't wait to see what it'll look like in-game.

Also, note to musical people, we need some music. We are kinda running low on it at the moment and we need some for stages like Splashing Springs for example.

And Azu I'm working on a story board which should be ready in a little bit. And actually why don't you come on to the irc so we can talk about it?

Looks really really good. The level is beautiful and pleasing, if not a bit sprawling (unclear where you're supposed to go in the level).

    Looking forward to good news!

Wow, Zepp's art is really lovely. I'm even more excited about Freerunner after these pictures. They remind me of the Sonic 4 teaser concept art, only, y'know, good.

It's gonna be interesting to see how these great artists' work translates to 3D.

Oh god that art is amazing!

Uh, you could use stock music for music... Or just get some of those Project Chaos songs.

I'd offer to help with music, but I don't think anyone wants to listen to Mariopaint grade instruments... (even if they were soundfonted over. :specialed:)

Edit: Is the demo up for SAGE? Sorry I just got home today and I haven't had the chance to look in a week.

  10. No, I'm afraid not. It was partly my decision to postpone Freerunner's demo release because of both unsolved technical problems, and because of the rushed nature of Splashing Springs, the stage we were to use in the demo. We've delayed Freerunner's release with good intentions in mind. This project will continue as usual, and a demo may even be out sooner than next SAGE, it all depends on how many people stick with us.

Is this worth elaborating upon? I was trying to get it to be a Senoue sounding thing.

Well, its really rather bare at the moment imo, I would try to add more instruments other then the two or tree already in there.

The only thing I can say is that Senoue isn't the direction I'd say go with music-wise. XD

Hmm, something like how Tweaker did for this music. Very latin, tropical, upbeat and.. Genesis-y. Splashing Springs would be great with something of this calibur.

Tweaker's "Senoue Sea" is a good one if you're going for Sonic Adventure 1 style music.

I don't think we want really any style that sounds like the official audio artists.
No, I think we need to make our own feel and our own style. My advice would be to try and pull from pure inspiration other than previously created songs.

I agree, but it should still be possible to familiarize the style with Sonic music in some way, perhaps by using patterns known to be used, even if some are more obscure than others (being from lesser-known games) but I wouldn't take from Senoue's music, or at least, I would only take example from one song, because his songs are very similar in pattern.

If that makes any sense at all... I'm sure there are proper words for such things as a pattern of notes that fits well together (I'm not talking about a measure) and can be associated with a 'style', as being a familiarity of that style, or at least a known (and preferably favored) artist, but music theory isn't my strong point. :specialed:

Edit: Hey, do you think this game could get a tutorial level? With the story setup right now, Sonic and Tails wake up in a forested area, so why not use that as a tutorial level? Unless the controls are mappable?...

  17. I just got here, so I don't know if this has been answered, but are you still planning on keeping the project with Blitz Sonic?

If you've seen on the forum, my skill has improved with the engine and I can still help if no one else can.

Yeah, its being made in a custom version of blitzsonic, which have updated graphics abilities and the like.

  19. I know all of that, but since he decided not to put it in SAGE he said they change the project to Sonic GDK.

EDIT: I said E3, I was still thinking of Colors... fixed to be SAGE.

You mean SAGE? And what about a project change? I didn't hear anything like that.
