Sonic Free Riders

Are still there games even being developed to the PS2 at all? I thought it was already dead.

And yeah, as a matter of fact, $150 was the launching price of the 32X. $159 to be exactly.

 

The Wii's non-HDness is encouraging some developers to scale down Wii games to fit the PS2 (keep in mind that the PS2 is generally considered weaker than even the Gamecube, so this is probably doesn't bode well for said developers using the Wii to its fullest potential). For example, a config file in the Wii-exclusive shooter The Conduit implies the engine could be port-able to the PSP (and presumably the PS2).

 

I mean, are there exclusively games made for the PS2 anymore? They are just scalled down versions of Wii games, as you have already shown. And even then, the last game I remember being released to the PS2 was Silent Hill Shattered Memories, which was a scalled down version of a Wii game as well. =/

 

They were still releasing games for the Dreamcast in 2007, so it might be a while before the PS2 dies entirely.

But yeah, I very much doubt there's exclusives any more.

Also, price has been stated as $49.99, no word on a release date, aside from 'holiday season'.

That's some real bland boxart right there. It's crap.

 

So it fits right in with the other Kinect game box arts!

 

Oh god; Sonic's got his S4 wiggle-grin going on again.

The fact that there's nothing but characters on this boxart worries me further that this is just going to be a collection of tracks with not even a tooth-floss string of a plot to tie them together.

(Everyone else might like that, but I'm a storyfag here. :\ )

 

Nuh-uh! If you look REAAAAAL close you can see some textures on Sonic's Gloves and Board!

Seriously, what's with that. I mean, really.

 

And if you look REAAAAAL close on the huge-ass highest-res version, Sonic's got something wierd going on with the soles of his Ronald McDonald boots. It's like... fractal treads or something, idk. :v:

 

I can't help but think the texture on Sonic's board makes it look like it's made of Styrofoam.

 

Much to my surprise, this port-Riders-to-360-to-make-a-quick-buck is actually starting to look not half bad.

In fairness, the ability to flail your way to victory by gratuitous physical exertion does have a certain appeal, because when you get pissy at the vidyagaem for a losing streak, now you can channel your raeg into victory, rather than just swear at the screen repeatedly.

The last two posts are epically timed, I must say.

I like the way Free Riders is turning out. I wasn't big on Kinect at first, and I'm still not, but this game may persuade me to give Kinect a shot.

 

Subliminal minecart now ? Ha ha.

I guess the Riders series is the Sega counterpart of the F-Zero series, since All-Star Racing is the Mario Kart's one.

 

If it could use a controller and was on PS3 I'd love to play it
