If character creation means I can go in and like, just make Tails, and play as Tails in a mainline Sonic game for the first time in over a decade, maybe it isn't so bad. Even if it is just cosmetic.
That's kind of my thought to the whole situation. I don't care about fan characters, so I could create someone that looks just like Knuckles or Sonic or whatever and then pretend I'm playing as that character. But if someone likes fan characters they can make their own. And if someone just wants to make dank-memes come to life then that's an option too. Really no one loses (in this circumstance anyway. You know when you're playing DragonBall Xenoverse and you see a Namekian with Super Saiyan Blue hair and sunglasses and it activates your inner cringe response even if you know it's satire? I'm worried that's the kinds of characters people are going to make. I was right by saying that the 3rd character might as well be Bubsy if it's a character creator, though Really, it's not the end of the world. The only thing that might be bad is the creativity of a few. That being said, I still worry about the bulk of the main content of the game. This can be fun and all, but it's not my main attraction. But I can see why they'd do this, it's easy to market and it has demand. Plus, people always say x character didn't make it into the game. If you'll need me, I'll be in the bunkers. I can smell the storm all the way from here.
Fuck, this really makes me cringe. I can't wait for all the crappy OC characters. I'm still hopeful for the gameplay, but ehhhhhh.

Here are the animals you can be and what powers they'll have: Wolf -- Automatically draws in rings when near them Rabbit -- Has longer invincible time after receiving damage Cat -- Keeps one ring after being hit Dog -- Restarts with five rings after the player dies Bear -- Blows away enemies with a homing attack Bird -- Flies high with double jump abilities Hedgehog -- Collects rings when getting damaged They use wisps as like weapon power ups or something. Well then looks like I'm making Sonic 3. Make sense I guess that they chose animals not commonly represented in Sonic games. But you could maybe make Blaze.
I see they've been learning from Sonic Dreams Collection, maybe we can get Eggman Origin too at some point?

I didn't expect this to actually happen holy shit It looks like you can have feminine traits on your character, so that's kind of nice at least. It might be neat and kinda funny if on the Switch you could use a Mii head or something. Just running around with a horrible bobblehead attached to a Sonic body
