Wait what? They released the Metal Sonic Boss theme? Edit: Ninja'd Kinda shocked they released this and not show off the boss at all beforehand.
Wow. They used the US track as a base? Interesting. I actually kinda like it. Certainly unexpected and while I love Metal Sonic's JP Sonic CD theme, it's nice to give this track some love.
Oh God, someone said Metal Sonic theme and I got hyped :specialed: And then I listened to it I hate this game's soundtrack, especially after Mania.
I honestly must have like 10 Metal Sonic themes on my phone :specialed: They're pretty much all wonderful.
Wow they couldn't even do a metal Sonic (US version) remix as good as the one in Generations. Why even bother? This soundtrack is complete trash, what the hell?
It's grown on me more after listening to it, I just despise techno music (or whatever this electric music is called) :v: Metal looks good, I'm glad to see him, he's one of my favourite characters. I won't lie, I am pretty hyped to see the villains again, well, aside from Zavok. Who cares about Zavok :v:
I'm going to vomit. And I love the US SS BF theme. What on earth are they thinking with the sound design of this game?
This is making me really appreciate Generations' US Stardust Speedway remix. I am a fan of some of these tracks; I like City Heights and the main theme (well, I liked it before Hoobastank).
My hot take is that all of you have shit taste in music :specialed: In all seriousness the negative reaction to all the music here surprises me
Having checked the credits before: doesn't really look like they have set teams of people at Sonic Team. Lots of people who worked on Lost World worked on Generations, lots of people who worked on Generations worked on Colours, some people worked on Lost World and Colours but not Generations, some on Generations and Colours but not Lost World etc. That being said: Forces, Lost World, and Colours do all share the same director: Morio Kishimoto. So there's that I guess. Also that Metal Sonic remix is dumb but I'm into it.
I really dislike the production of the music rather than the compositions. I appreciated the move they went with Unleashed, where they used real instruments and acoustic sounds. But I'd also rather go for that electric rock Adventure sound than this. So it's a production issue for me rather than anything else. While the Classic music is just horrible production trying to imitate Genesis music (badly), this music sounds like it's trying to be more modern and 'charty'. I just hate that type of music :v:
Hes not using fat person angle. Also I thought the song was ok. Really not sure about the tag team stuff. Really not sure about a lot of this stuff.
I think it's pretty unreasonable to say there isn't hype for this game. Can't tell you how many times I've seen people in official streams and such prior to Mania going "GIVE US FORCES NEWS". This game is likely going to do well, it's a curse that every Sonic game that isn't Boom carries. I'm not as completely turned off to the game and the music as I'm sure many of you are, but even I'm getting miffed by how horrifically uninspired the levels are looking (Seriously what the actual fuck was with the inside of the pyramid being the SAME THING 3 TIMES IN A ROW). It's baffling how they somehow took a step BACK with this formula when it was so damn close to being great in Generations (in my own opinion at least).
I'll never understand Sonic Team's obsession with showing off their games with what basically amounts to tutorial levels. Either that or they don't have anything better to show so far.
Various other nitpicks aside such as music or proper Classic Sonic physics, The level design is my biggest peeve and concern over this game. I had fun with the Classic and Modern gameplay in Sonic Generations but this game's level design is so terrible that it throws all the fun out the window for me.
Possibly in an attempt to not spoil actual levels? Didn't really pan out for them that well with Generations though :v:
I agree that I can't see this game outright 'failing'. It doesn't look terrible and I seriously doubt it'll be broken. I think there was a missed opportunity with adding multiple playable characters in this context and I'm definitely not part of the "WE WANT SONIC's FRIENDS BACK" brigade. All in all, gameplay seems about what I expect given what was logically possible in conjunction with the level design. Okay but not impressive. Sales may do well actually. A lot of younger fans are eating up the gimmicks presented. Reviews will be sort of what they are now, overall. Not what I'd like to see for Sonic going forward but good for Sonic Team I suppose.
