Random motobug placements and certain other inaccuracies kinda detract from my enjoyment of this. For example, the quarter pipe after the corkscrew is supposed to launch you straight up at 0:49. But there's no deny that it's looking good. Keep it up. EDIT: Then again, maybe it's not supposed to be a 1:1 remake with everything in exactly the same place. Any other problem I have with this is personal taste, but like I said, it's looking good. Keep it up.
Let me put this straight: -this fangame <-- - - - - - - - - -awesome -very good -good -decent -average -bad -awful
Holy hell. Other than the sketchy sound effects (we need that badnik "pop" noise in there, and a quieter skidding noise), this looks absolutely astounding. Amazing work!
Everything is EXTREMELY busy, it gets hard at points to tell what's going on. I'd suggest brighter colors for foreground elements, enemies, etc, to help them stand out against the background. Other than that, this is looking fantastic. It feels just right in so many ways.
After watching video again, I have a few questions: 1) How is falling off loops mid-loop handled? 2) This was probably easy to accommodate for but how is falling off of corkscrews handled also? 3) Seeing as how you had Sonic run up the wall and go past the bridge, I can see you have jumping onto platforms from underneath implemented. what happens if Sonic falls just short of going high enough to actually land on the platform, though?
Seriously. The environment looks unique enough to be used for entirely different level design. I seriously hope a bunch of levels in this game aren't just remakes of older levels. :/ Also, why is the video 480p?
A little much on the color blue, if you ask me. Causes everything to blend in too much with Sonic, and the overly radiant pinks make it all uberbusy. Maybe balancing out everything to where it features more shades of bold colors like red, orange and yellow would be better. Then again the problem could be that you made the shadows on all objects blue instead of black, which if anything should be fixed and be made to a much more comfortable-on-the-eyes (and realistic) black shadow. Would help the flow between background, foreground, and Sonic/the objects much better if you ask me. Otherwise.. wow. This is pretty amazing.
I've figured out what irks me about this. Am I the only one that feels like visuals like this would be better applied to a Sonic 3 remake? Also no running off the edge of the screen durp. Yes, yes I am
Good god this is incredible. I salute you sir and I can't wait to play this. This may be jizz in pants worthy
I'm seriously impressed, and this looks amazing. Like, "holy shit I just jizzed all over my keyboard, dear god where are the tissues I can't find any" amazing. Wish you luck with continuing and completing this project. :D That being said I'd love it even more if this was an original fangame and not just a remake (though I doubt Emerald Hill is just testing from how pretty it looks). Only other minor complaint is that the video's colors seems a bit...desaturated? I don't know how exactly to put it, it's weird. Maybe it's a recording bug and doesn't reflect ingame play but idk.
I worry the grass might be over-detailed and too much of a distraction actually playing the game (though honestly, I don't feel right judging without actually playing it myself), but man that was absolutely beautiful. You've got something to be proud of here.
BAAAW THERE ARE NO MOTOBUGS IN SONIC 2 THIS GAME IS SHIT Just kidding. This looks absolutely fantastic. Are there going to be original levels as well as remastered ones?
My eyes! They cannot handle the awesomeness! Seriously, this game is absolutely beautiful. I'm loving the Eggmech in the background. Very nice touch.
Looks freakin' awesome. My only complaint? It seems like you put the blue filter over the foreground as well, which is not a good idea because it's really hard to stay focused on the action when there's nothing to separate it from the background.
This is awesome! I would love to see a complete remake of all 4 Sonic games in this style. I love the theme. The thing I liked about the older Sonic games is that it could tell a story without cut scenes and voice overs. The visuals do exactly that. Right away I know that Eggman is in change and that he has conquered the animals. For all who complain about the visuals being busy, take a step back and think about how it enhances the story.
I, what is this I don't, god. This is the best thing I have _ever_ seen. Best fan game on the entire planet. SEGA, this is what S4 should be. This made me tear up ;-;
So, I've got a question. Who ended up doing the music? Also, can we PLEASE get pelikan13 full membership, at the very least? Him still being a trial member is a crime against humanity.
