Isn't the fact that Sonic is going down hill due to the fact that SEGA and SonicTeam ARE ignoring what we think? If Sonic fans are making better games than the people who make Sonic, I think SonicTeam are hiring the wrong people for the job. I do think that if this game becomes too big a competition for Sonic 4, SEGA are going to try and get it shot down for using their Copyrighted material, regardless of it being fan based or free. One thing I'm curious about though is the music composition. Surely the creator of this game won't be able to recreate the music from S2's EHZ
This is actually a double edged sword. Sometimes they listen to much to the fans and other times too little. Also say what you want but SEGA actually is very good to their fans. Realistically speaking this probably will be out long after Sonic 4 is, Sonic 4 is a funded multi-man project made by people with experience in developing, the Dimps Team with some key Sonic Team members. They also have 2.5D experience, with Dimps recently helping coproduce with Capcom on Street Fighter 4. If you want to see a company that bastardize the fans, look at Activision. http://kotaku.com/5482221/activision-termi...quest-extension
I really like this model, actually. He looks purposeful, like the standing sprite from Sonic 1, 2, and CD, not bored or slouchy like... well, pretty much everything since. If it were me, though, I'd push his pupils a bit further up, so it looks like he's looking farther away. That would help give him the heroic "Sonic CD face".
Your artwork is simply superb! It's beautiful. I'll be honest though, when I first saw the first image you posted I thought 'Hmmmm, this could be a troll...' but now I'm totally blown away. Good luck completing your project, you've got the cream of the sonic fanbase here to help tl;dr version:
Now I took a closer look I see that you have to do something about the middle spine of his head, you could lower it a little bit more so it don't look strange than I just saw. Also, Either Get rid of the soles and shorten the spines, or color the sole the correct color and color his pupils green. But it is a good model for a placeholder.
Please don't do that, stick with what you have. This is starting to look even better with every post great job. :D
That, ladies and gentlemen, is the most beautiful model of classic Sonic ever. This has so much potential.
Well I must say this really is just awesome work. Do what you do, everyone has an opinion.... Technical help and constructive criticism should always be welcomed. But no one should tell you what to do, change or how to present game elements etc... They can always make their own fan game with their own vision. This is yours, and I can't wait to see more of it!
I really don't think you should change that Sonic model because it looks just fine and you will never be able to please everyone here
I bet you're still upset about what I said about your Eggmobile (And thus I take it back, it still look good). You know what, if that the Hedgehog he wants to use, then so be it. I realized that model is just there to serve as an avatar for the player of the game. In fact, lets us not worry about the graphics until the programming is finished.
I wasn't really mad about that, I made that thing in like 20 minutes. I just personally think his model of Sonic is near perfect. It has everything I like about both designs of Sonic.
It's comments like this that doesn't really help anything. This guy is a one-man team and has already accomplished so much before even uttering a word of its existence. If people want to be negative, I'll personally direct them back to the Sonic 4 thread.
That model is absolutely beautiful. It's the first 3D model of Classic Sonic that I've seen that makes me really wish they'd use Classic Sonic in Sonic 4—I've always thought it'd never make a 100% graceful transition into 3D, but you, my friend, hath proved me wrong. And did you trim the grass? It looks better. Background's a little less visually intrusive now, too.
^ This... I have nothing but praise for this individual that has come to the Retro forums when they could've just not bothered.
Saw this the other day, looks great.. I agree with the past comments regarding the background fog to contrast with the objects up front, its a little distracting. I also noticed in the screen-shots Sonic is a bit small for his size...hes about the size of the rings themselves. Would it possible to increase his size a tiny bit? Anyways, keep up the good work! I'm really loving the style and looking forward on more progress from this.
