It's strange, but when I was about 10-11 years old, I was downloading and playing Sonic fan Games quite frequently. (I'm 19 now.) There's a small list of games to which I cannot seem to find anywhere, so I'm wondering if maybe they're lying around someone to which I just haven't checked yet. Maybe you guys could help me! Sonic Chaos Revolution 2 Demo Chaomega Sonic Unity Sonic Chaos Racer Sonic Fight! and last but not least; this Sonic Fan Game to which I barely remember. all I know is when I fired it up, it took up the whole screen, I think it was a first-person view kind of game, and I was in an ice area, and I may of had a gun. Part of me thinks this was not at all a Sonic Fan Game and my mind is just fucking with me . . Anyway. If any of you know where I can find these games, that would be excellent. Thanks!! PC0 says: We've decided to stick this topic to show off the large collection of bulk fan games. Hmm... that last one sounds almost like an early build of SRB2, but I don't recall exactly what the christmas release looked like or if there was a first-person view in it. In case you're wondering, SRB2 has been nearly finished since then. (Though they're still not -totally- done.)
Yeah SRB2 was cool and all, but I mostly want these games just for nostalgic reasons, plus I'm trying to explain something to my girlfriend, kind of wanted to just show her some of these games to complete my explanation, and I figured why not do so whilst also enjoying the fan games I loved when I was a little kid? As for When Tails Gets Bored. . . I remember being totally confused while I was younger, and playing it. Maybe I was just retarded?
Sonic Brick is the shit. I remember downloading it when Sonic HQ was still relevant. But...It won't work anymore. =(
I love these games. They're so mindblowingly bad but they're great historically, they represent a much simpler time. I can't seem to find any hint of those particular games though outside of a couple of Youtube videos though, I think the best bet is someone having them on their computer. Is that the one based on those hoaxes?
The forum is still up and lively, just not as big. But yeah. Sonic HQ hasn't been updated in ages. Well I guess they are making a new site as seen from here but I have no real idea of their progress.
Oh come on man. Chaomega was awesome at the time and still a blast to play now. The games never managed to emulate the games like the hacks do but they were braver and more creative because of that. I agree that most of the output sucked but some of the gems were damn fine games.
Sounds very much like Sonic Doom 2. All it really was was Doom 2 with a bunch of Sonic sprites, sounds and textures placed everywhere and some fairly rudimentary level design. Nevertheless, it should be fairly easy to find!
It's all about Sonic's Mega Quest, man. And the unofficial sequels, too. Can't forget those (everyone else forgot those)
Yeah, it was. And there was supposed to be a sequel to it too, which I was pumped for. When Tails Gets Cloned, I think. I also remember opening up Sonic Robo Blast in my copy of The Games Factory and seeing the immense amount of stuff in that game that I couldn't get too just because it was so hard. It blew my little kid mind.
If anyone wonders why a version of Chaomega never released past 2002, it's because it was canceled. [LINK] The creator showed off a couple of screenshots of a carnival level called Carnival Night Zone on his website in early 2003. However, I just now noticed there's a bunch of other screenshots accessible by modifying the number in the url. It's such a shame it was canceled. Edit- [LINK] I uploaded the demo of this fangame last month so there's a link. Unfortunately, I cannot get the game to work well in Windows 7. Full screen mode is broken for me and I'm having difficulty getting my controller to work well with it.
http://www.sonicfangameshq.com/view.php?sec=1&id=65 I haven't checked to see how Klik 'n' Play installers cope with Windows Vista/7 so some of these games may cause issues. Thankfully no KNP games are protected so someone with more time than me could in theory convert them all to TGF/MMF/TGF2/MMF2 executables or something. btw I have a internet friend working on a replacement for the content managing system we have at MFGG - could be adapted for SFGHQ if they're interested (though you'd be waiting a while until it was in a fit state to be distributed).
Chaomega was awesome and the guy's next project, Sonic Unity, also looked pretty cool. I remember TGFTeam too, one of their games was really badly programmed but quite fun to play, if anyone remembers it? I think it was called Sonic 2099. Also, quick question, anyone know if anything came of this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VtxJTuTa9cY (Aaaand also make sure you play Sonic Time Attacked, that game was one of my favourite old fangames).
Yeah as a kid, I was super impressed with Magicgrafx games, even games like Sonic Chaos Strikes Again seemed interesting. I remember how I thought the intro to Legendary SoniChaos was so awesome, even knows it's just. . music. . and people running. Haha. Another game I really liked, was NeoSonic. (I think that's what the series was called.) From Manic Team?
I asked this in another thread but it was ignored (probably because it had nothing to with it) but does anyone remember a fan game called Sonic: Back to the Floating Island or something like that? It used to be hosted on SFGHQ but it's gone now. It was an incredibly shitty TGF game, but I used to play the shit out of it back in the day, and I want a nostalgia rush. Also, Knuckles Millennium was a bitchin' fan game.
Oh, dude. I remember loving this one called Knuckles CD. It had Knuckles in Sonic 1's levels, with Sonic CD styled time travel. It was really shitty, but I loved it back in the day.
Sonic: Time Attacked, Chaomega, Sonic the Fated Hour and Sonic Chaos Revolution is where it's at. Also, anyone remember 'Jamie Bailey in: Sausage Roll Island!'? Not exactly a Sonic game (lolfancharacter), but it's the most addicting game I've ever played, man.
