Sonic Dream Team (New 3D Game from Hardlight, coming to Apple Arcade December 5)

Yea, it looks decent. This ain't something I'm gonna get an Apple product though, lol. I'm glad that I have the common sense to not get an Apple TV.

Not sure if I agree on Cream's voice being bad. Honestly, I cannot stand her voice in Heroes and the 4Kids era so this is a big improvement for me. Rouge needs some work though, lol. I dunno, I don't get what they were going for. She just sounds more like a high school bully than anything else.

I do wonder who does Ariem's voice. Her voice actress sounds very familiar to me. I like to say Gray Delisle? LOL

 

I'm seeing a lot of flatness and boosting to get uphill, not very much pinball momentum stuff like the fans seemed so sure of. I'm not seeing a way to spin dash or roll into a ball at all! Still though it certainly LOOKS nicer than the teasers implied and I felt a distinct sense of freedom first watching that Eggman balloon section that I don't think I've yet felt from official 3D Sonic. There does seem to be a refreshing looseness and verticality to the level design here but yeah I'm worried my fears about it all still just being too barren have been confirmed, not to mention the potential tedium with stuff like the keys and extra missions. It is just the first zone though. Don't have much else to say except I'm liking the slight melancholy vibe of the music and that boss looks like a well-polished joke of a fight even for a kid. It is at least a neat novelty to finally see Mario boss design in Sonic I guess. Everyone's on about the voice acting but I just can't stand that Tails still has that Colors iPad being smart for him.

Yup, this looks like a video game of all time that I will play and maybe enjoy.
It is a sonic game, so I’m gonna play it, but if the rest of the game is like what was shown here it’s gonna be a snoozer. Music is great though, to be expected.

 

I can imagine it being actually fun to take out and get through pieces at a time... Sucks that there's no iOS device with controls built in.

 

Y'know, seeing this gameplay reminded me of the fake Runners leak that said it was going to be a mobile 3D boost game with voiced cutscenes. It's certainly a coincidence, but looks like we ended up getting it after all

 

I remember way back in 2012, after Generations released there was a fake 4chan leak claiming the next game would be a Generations styled boost game with open level design and Tails, Knuckles, Cream and Amy would be playable characters. I remember reading this as a kid and getting so hyped imagining how cool that would be but then we got Lost World instead lol

This game looks pretty much exactly how that imaginary 4chan leak looked in my mind.

 

I'd it just me, or is the character animation in this weirdly good? Just watching the beginning of the 30 minute video, I feel like Sonic and Amy move in a more fluid and expressive style than other recent 3D Sonic games.

 

This is basically what I've wanted from the series since Gens (minus the open level design, idc about that) and it hurts that we finally got it 12 years later stuck on Apple products...

You know what after seeing this, I think this game will be solid. The levels are huge. They also have a lot of paths. I cannot wait until tonight.

 

Seems fine to me, though Michelle does seen like she is almost slipping into her Rukia (from Bleach) voice.

Rouge's awful though and in fact her voice gets HIGHER in a cutscene further along.

 

I must be going crazy. To me she sounded like a psycho doppelganger version of her that would reveal herself to be some sort of Girl Mephiles only in the end.

 

This game is going to be better than both Superstars and Frontiers. & Its a mobile game lol

 

Oh, everyone can boost. That's disappointing and annoying. Thats aside it does look fun to play.

Minor nitpick but the springs using the classic spring sound bothers me so much.

 

I'm sick of the boost but it makes sense here especially considering how much wall-running they seemingly want you to do in these levels. It's nice to at least see boost used for something besides blasting forward, and importantly it looks actually limited.

Still though yeah I can't help being a little pissed that you can't even roll with how hard the fanbase was proclaiming the return of Adventure-era here. That's not really on the game though.

 

Fans simultaneously have the highest and lowest standards for what count as "Adventure-era", "momentum", etc. I also thought that claiming the game is Adventure 3 was hyperbolic as hell. I said earlier but this is more like mobile Frontiers. The dev's own word about the game being inspired by Super Mario Sunshine also rings true.

I'm sure the fanbase will overcorrect itself when they suddenly start calling the game mid 6 months from now.

 

Oh I didn't mean I don't like the boost being here, I just don't like every character being able to do it. Should be limited to the "speed type" characters or characters with abilities that can justify them having a boost (which really only applies to Silver lol).
