Sonic Crackers ROM release info?

About Sonic & Knuckles, they released "PDX-SONK" on 9-21-94, and then a small "S&KFINAL" on 1-19-94. Could be something like what they did with Flink, first they release a prototype and then an IPS for the final version.

Since I doubt people back there cared too much about playing prototypes when they could just get their free final versions, it's quite possible that everybody might have overwritten their protos back then. =\

 

Yay for the Genesis crackscene of ages ago.

Now if people kept ROMs with intros on them, in a different folder or something...

 

Many of those ROMs might have been released with intros only, so a ROM with no intro would be an altered-altered ROM anyway.

 

Wow! Didn't know I lived in an evil empire.

 

It's creepy when I hear an old group name like "Paradox" and am only familiar with their GBA stuff.

Both mention the file "MOR-SONC.LZH" ... huge ass documents though. dial-up users beware.

What does the "SEGAbet" mean?

Of course, I didn't even think to check through the fucking charts for info...anyone feel like helping sort through the unsorted directory on ICEknight's link? There might be something in there, but there's also several metric fucktons of garbage.

I would imagine that the "SEGAbet" just signified that it was for the Sega [Megadrive] and that it was a beta. If you look around, you have various other little abbreviations for other games.

Well, these aren't "warez sites" in the usual sense of popup- and spyware-laden sites, they're more a history of the classic console cracking scene.

There's a large archive of SNES related material, I could look through that just in case there is anything that came from the console scene as a whole, instead of just the SNES scene.

Edit: Doing a cursory look, I don't see any Genesis-related material at all.

 

Someonw please explain to me how those are warez sites. I'm just not making the connection, as you can't download anything with those, and they don't really help considering they were written in the frame of 1994.
