Everything was spazzy in Adventure. That's what made looking at them talk so hilarious. It was ridiculously and amusingly bad. Colors has way more facial expression than I've ever seen out of Sonic. Tails too.
Sounds better than the usual fare, I never really thought Tails worked as well as a Straight Man with some subtle 'Not So Above It All' traits though, albeit maybe largely due to relating him to the hyperactive brat I watched in AoSth or even the OVA, not this super sensible and mellow character he was in previous titles and Sonic X. In fact straight man is a term that I often take with a grain of salt, as inbalanced ones end up kinda boring and more part of a pairing of purely negative and purely positive traits, a character needs enough flaws to be an interesting character (Sally for example got kinda grating in SatAm when she was Flanderized into one to Sonic's constant stupidity rather than a more versatile foil with her own shortcomings Sonic could reason with). I should probably see the actual cutscenes before I give proper analysis though. Ohhh, I'm struggling not to spoil it till I play the damn thing.....I'll go mad!
Ashram, you're late, I've been debating this on TSS for the last 3 days lol. Deciphering lyrics are the one thing I will say I know I'm good at, so everything that I list that isn't in parenthesis is correct. Finally we can relate Now we're side by side (this veil?) I knew all along We'd find some way to communicate! I've been here before and I know that We must stand up tall I'm not scared to ask when I'm not sure We can overcome it all Speaking from nowhere else except your heart You'll never know if you don't try Listen and see the voice I carry with me Speak with your heart, speak with your heart If you could tell me how to lend a hand, I would try to understand No words can say how much I care - together we can take a stand Don't fall apart, speak with your heart And always take it with you back to the start We can break this wall that divides us I know you're sincere We'll just take our time in this moment Your voice will not (__?) Speaking from nowhere else except your heart You'll never know if you don't try Listen and see the voice I carry with me Speak with your heart, speak with your heart If you could tell me how to lend a hand, I would try to understand No words can say how much I care - together we can take a stand Tell me how to lend a hand, I would try to understand No words can say how much I care - together we can take a stand Don't fall apart, speak with your heart And always take it with you back to the start Don't fall apart, speak with your heart and always take it with you back to the start (__?) victory, We'll ride the way to the end And I know that if we communicate Peace will be ours 'til the end *Don't fall apart, speak with your heart And always take it with you back to the start **Don't fall apart, speak with your heart Your heart, with your heart, speak with your heart *Repeat **Repeat Don't fall apart, speak with your heart And always take it with you back to the start Don't fall apart, speak with your heart And always take it with you back to the start Speak with your heart, yeah!
Hmm, I agree with the part about "The voice I carry with me", but I think my version of "Now we're side by side, this is fate" and "Your voice will come clear" is right. :P In any case, we'll find out in a month.
Wait...so they used the SAME cutscene twice?! or is this a SHTH thing where you are in a different area but the cutscene is initially the same?
I already determined that it can't be because there are more syllables than that. Go on, listen closely and count them, there are 6 syllables. Whereas what you suggested only has 5. I agree that it would fit the rhyming aspect of the song. So it may be that the line is "it's fate" (it would not be "this is fate," as, again, that is too many syllables.) but I find it interesting that, taking into account the voice distortion, the word still sounds as if it beings with an "F" sound and ends with an "L" sound. I'm not going to deny that fate makes sense, but the sound is too different for me to say that it is, either.
After beating Tropical Resort, you have the choice to either play Sweet Mountain or Starlight Carnival, and since the cutscene events in this case have to play out in a specific order, they made two versions of each of those cutscenes to play depending on which boss you fight first. After that you have a similar choice to play the other three zones in whatever order you choose, but the cutscenes for Planet Wisp, Aquarium Park, and Asteroid Coaster don't have to play in any particular order to make sense and have to do more with what goes on in that particular zone (Aquarium Park has a sushi-restaurant joke, for example), so the only time the game needs to have multiple versions of a single cutscene is during the Sweet Mountain/Starlight Carnival part.
I spy the Hedgehog Engine logo at the start! Also this is a good commercial! Hope to get this game by the end of the week!
I was annoyed they only used one review. When games use one good review, it usually makes me think the game didn't get that many good reviews, which colors did. But oh well...
Here's the thing. "9 out of 10" is easy to quote into an advert because it's a 9 out of 10, which translates to "damn near perfect." Anything lower than a 9 is more appropriately quoted by actually quoting the words from the reviews themselves, but actually quoting reviews that tend to say "Sonic used to suck but this time he doesn't" in a variety of different ways isn't the sort of thing you do when advertising a game.
Yes, but it got three 9/10 scores. Why not flaunt them? Anyway, I can't wait to get the game tomorrow... must... resist... raiding gamestop...
I got the game :D Now I'm just waiting for the system updates to finish and then it's off to playing :D
Wait, did this release at midnight? o.o Three 9/10 scores from well-known reviewers, or just three 9/10 scores?
Played a bit of this at my Cousin's today. The Wii version, that is. It's pretty cool! But the tricks in this are so dumb. For however simplistic Sonic Rush's trick system was, it used three buttons and tricking served a tactile purpose (filling your tension gauge). In this, it's just so... pointless and restrictive.
It's just a bonus-points kind of deal, really. A bit of added boost toward that S-Rank. I didn't like the tricks in Rush, either. Fill your boost gauge by mindlessly rapidfiring a button whenever you get air or rail time? Yeah...
I didn't mind it. It helped me get easy S-ranks in Rush, and it allowed for constant boosting since hitting an enemy while you were doing it then you'd get some back, so most of the levels were a breeze. But now when I play the Colours DS demo, I find myself constantly spamming the trick buttons in midair, which no longer do anything. It's rather annoying.
There was a bit of finesse to it, though. How long can you stay in the air without touching the ground? How close are you going to let yourself get to breaking your trick combo? And then you have to consider doing tricks wastes time, so how do you keep tricking and stay moving? You can spring straight up and do a little BBBBARBBBBBA, which is going to fill your gauge all the way, but that's going to also waste like 5 or 10 seconds. So knowing how much you need to get by is a big part of that. If nothing else, think of it like a new type of spindash that's constantly in use. You're always charging Sonic up to go faster and faster and faster. Which is why it's so silly that Sonic Colors would try such a poor implementation of it.
