Just beat the final boss. Going back for red rings. I find myself actually really liking Asteroid Coaster, which is surprising since normally I hate that type of fast, pit-heavy level...
Finally completed Wii version. Gameplay is just fine, but bosses... Too easy, and half near the end are almost copies of previous. Egg Nega Wisp doesn't look like final boss at all. Very-very similar by functions and way of beating him to Egg Lancer from Sonic Unleashed. It would fit regular zone well enough, but is a shame for final boss of game. Even if for someone nice gameplay is enough, I used to think about a game as whole. I really want to compare it with Salade Olivier (or Russian salad), where water is mistakenly used instead of mayonnaise. Silly, but I can it call only water because of those cutscenes about nothing with terribly spoiled characters of Sonic, Tails and even Eggman. Because of this water instead of normal story and other things I had to even make myself finish the game. 6 game acts in one zone begin to be boring, Unleashed's way of doing this was much better. In overall, it's the case when because of wrong chosen ingredients the whole dish is spoiled. I had never thought that I would have written about Sonic game in this mood. Maybe, DS version is better, have to complete it.
Seriously? I thought the cutscenes were amongst the best the series has had - Sonic and Tails are both much less annoying than they have ever been, and their new voices are excellent. The cutscenes are genuinely funny at times, and a welcome break from all the super-serious shark-jumping nonsense of the Adventure games. And Eggman's dialogue is just perfect. I've been a Sonic fan since the very first game and I feel like this is the closest to doing the characters justice that the series has come since the characters first started speaking (animated departures aside).
I for one like the new characterizations a lot better. Sonic The Fucking Lunatic is actually interesting to watch, as opposed to cringe-worthy.
Yes, sometimes they are fun. Agreed, the voices too. But looks like the meaning of "good story" is different for us. I wanted and want something like the story of Sonic Adventure 1/2. And when did Sonic became so rude to Tails? Tails really looks in game like being offended of that he's not playable. Also, Sonic is always showing off now. Didn't "It Doesn't Matter" say quite opposite?
If they got Sean Schemmel to do Sonic's voice, I DEMAND that they get Christopher Sabat to do Shadow's voice. + - Or Lanipator from Dragonball Z Abridged. <3
By the way, does anyone have/knows the lyrics of "Speak With Your Heart" ? It's hard to tell what the singer is saying with all this vocoder distornional effect applied to the whole vocal track. And since we are into it, does anyone happens to have the entire lyrics of "Reach For The Starts" ?
For once I actually liked the plot, while this Eggman's plan while wasn't the most evil of him, it's really the cruellest, I never seen the Doctor treating so bad (and enjoying it) little creatures, not even in the old days. Sonic and Tails actually (and finally) treat themselves as brothers, you know, little help and there, arguing sometimes, but in the end they really care for each others, like when + - Sonic sacrifices his ride out of the park to saving Tails from Dr. Eggman and Tails still wanting to stay to help him .

Reach For The Stars, in the soundtrack (I haven't found it in game yet) is longer. It has another verse, 2 different chorus's at the end and a little keyboard solo thingy.
Thanks, Nano, but yeah. There's much more in there. By the way, the full version is played at the credits. It plays first "Speak With Your Heart," and then "Reach For The Stars," and then the main orchestral theme... I think.
Hm, yeah, you are right, all is not that bad as I first saw it. But still, I hope for better story next time and not so showing off Sonic.
I don't mind the story, but the cutscene music and presentation is definitely irritating. Sonic Unleashed cutscenes managed to have cartoon style humor without pushing it in your face. Colors' constant broken spring and other annoying cartoon sound effects bother me, not to mention the music, which, although fine at times, really doesn't fit with the feel of the rest of the game (as in level music, boss music, etc.).
