Is there really a need to spoiler tag badnicks that we've know existed since the beginning?
I don't know why we're spoiler tagging anymore at all. It's out somewhere, right? And besides, we all know half this forum's pirated it. At this point, it's like an 'open secret'.
I vote everyone just stops using spoiler tags for anything related to this game
I was thinking that but there were a few Badniks I was surprised to see. Mainly (ohoho spoiler tags)
Those Shark Missiles from Sonic 3 & Advance
that surprised me as I didn't think anything from Sonic 3 was going to get in, and those were some of my favorite Badniks in design from 3. XD
Tropical Resort Zone act 1 apparently underwent tons of small changes between builds. For example, in the first E3 video shown, the long straight hall at the end of the act, filled with Eggpawns holding signs, originally didn't have reflector crystals on the sides.
Couple of pages late, but I give you at least better definition:
Planet Wisp Act 1 underwent some changes as well.
Yup. The rocket wisp near the middle of the act was originally out in the open. Now it's hidden behind some smashable blocks that requires the pink wisp being unlocked first.
After playing Colors DS for a little while longer, I've come to a rather astounding realization...
I like it as much, if not more, as the Genesis Sonic games.
It just plays so well. The stomping, the boosting, the high speeds intermingled with platforming in just the perfect balance, replaying stages looking for Red Rings and secrets... It's just such a great game. I want to slap myself for liking it so much, but then again, I don't. Sonic Colors DS just does everything right in my eyes. (Except for some floatiness and of course
There's just a good feeling of running through, homing-attacking a line of badniks, and then stomping to the floor and boosting on ahead like nothing's happened. It as if the badniks were barely even a hair off Sonic's back, and it just feels great.
If I were a reviewer I'd give that shit an 9 out of 10 so fast it'd make your head spin.
I'm going to assume that was because they wanted to show the level but not the Pink Wisp in the demo.
Also on Planet Wisp Act 1, that part at the beginning where you run along the side, they added some sets of spikes for the final build, if I'm remembering correctly in earlier demo builds it was just Dash Pads. Maybe some other things as well, just judging from videos I've seen.
That isn't even what I mean. Object and ring placement in general was just different.
Ya, the rocket wisp was in an entirely different spot.
How's the handling compared to Unleashed PS3? That was my only problem with the game, the handling was far too annoying at times, especially with all the bottomless pits.
Just dropping this here. :v:
I know this has been said about a million times already but Sonic Colors is absolutely gorgeous.
Here, let me sum that up for you.
Obviously sonic fans are uncouth heathens and cannot fathom the true awesome of Sonic 4 and instead, resort to their devil worship of this horrid, glitchy, gimmick-ridden secretion from SEGA's bowels.
I, Jim Sterling, cannot be wrong, therefore Colors is a terrible game, thereby allowing my point to stand that Sonic 4 was awesome and Sonic Retro should just fuck off.
It's all a matter of perspective guys. It's either he reviewed it with complete bias for the sake of his Sonic 4 review or he just felt like flaming. Either way, he's still a dick. Keep on truckin', Jim Sterling. The world needs more sentient flab like you.
He's just trolling us.
But it's sad when so many people trust his review as the only right one and disregard all the other positive reviews of the game.
It's just sad
DustArma pretty much hit the nail on the head. Seriously, this is just one guy. Why is everyone taking he said as fact? ...Wait, well...one bad review can cause a lot of crap...but still, sad.
I dunno a damn thing about Jim Sterling, but is he always like that, or what? What is up with that guy?
Why do we care if we see bad review? The game has flaws, some people see them as bigger issues than others. It's not like any of us are listening to the reviews, so I don't see why we should give a shit.
There's no law that says that everyone needs to love the game, and although I agree that the score is way too harsh, that doesn't mean either he's right or we're wrong.
Edit: Having read the entire thing now, he makes some good points. Well... aside from "terrible level design", but at least he explains why. It just seems like he took off far too much more his issues, even though they are valid for the most part. Actually, now looking at the current metacritic score... I'm a bit worried, the score is a 77. Not bad by any means, but certainly not good.
People care because they want Sonic to be respected again, and now that he arguably deserves it, a review like Sterling's is perceived as massively unfair.
