The most interesting part is that there appears to be significant underwater sections for the first time in ages.
What is sonic doing in this screenshot? It looks like a wind tunnel, like from Wing Fortress Zone, or a water Tunnel from Labyrinth Zone/Tidal Tempest/Hydrocity Zone, only without the water. That would be fucking awesome if those returned in 3D. Man this game rules.
Aquarium Park Zone looks like it's borrowing assets from Chun-Nan. Regardless, still looks very pretty.
There are no underwater sections in SA2. The only way to hear that music is in the Chao Gardens. The last time we had underwater sections was SA1, in Lost World.
Can someone please explain to me what the hell Chinese architecture has to do with an Aquarium Park? :v:
...And hopefully isn't moving at 0.002 miles-per-hour like in Sonic Adventure. =P Although technically that's 2.5D. No telling if it'll ever happen in a full-blown 3D sequence, but given the "3D is for speed/2D is for platforming" mentality of this game, it very well may not. Also confirms the earlier confirmation of underwater sections that was alluded to when they mentioned the drill power doubling as an underwater-torpedo power. EDIT: Also, why is there Chinese architecture underwater? :v: So you're telling me that Dr. Eggman is Chinese?
YESSSSSSS I can finally play a 3D Sonic that isn't SA1 and allows me to be scared to death by the countdown music :3 Best 3D Sonic confirmed.
Still, even if only in the 2.5D sections that's still more than any Sonic game as of late. No Sonic character has been able to go underwater in any sense in a 3D game since Sonic Adventure 2.
Well then, looks to me like Sonic Colors is...blowing Sonic 4 out of the water. + - YEEEEEEEEEEAAAAHHHHHH In all seriousness, this is one of the main things I've always wanted to see return in a 3D Sonic game. Now if they could just get rolling/pinball physics back we'd be all set. :3c
In China there're LOTS of old and famous water villages like Venice or Soleanna. It's not really surprising just like how they base Gigan Rocks (Zero Gravity) on Guiling.
