Sonic Colors stealing Sonic 4's thunder?

More people may be excited about S4 if they were doin it rite.

But really, I hope this doesn't mean they'll cancel any of the future episodes.

 

Shit, I hope Colors is stealing Sonic 4's thunder. It looks majestic.

 

I'm more excited about most hacking projects than any Sonic game over the past 10 years, never mind 4.

 

I'm optimistic about both, but I am far more excited about Colors. However, it seems rather unlikely that Sega would sabotage their own game's hype. Especially the one that costs more money to produce.

 

I think that the whole "the game we've been wanting for" thing is stupid as fuck. Colors is not it, Sonic 4 is not it, people are just depositing their hopes on them (like they have for the past, I don't know, 20 games) because they're the next ones to come out, but we all know how those will turn out, they'll be fun at best, but neither will be a terrific game. SEGA will never make a game as good or as successful as the ones from the original series, period.

 

Speak for yourself. I'm more hyped for Sonic Colours than I ever have been for any game.

 

Colours looks good. Sonic 4 seems okay. But:

 

Sometimes I just imagine Sega sitting around sometimes, saying "You know what would make us look even more stupid? THIS!"

 

Sonic Colours looks great, it makes me wish I had a Wii. I know I'll buy Sonic 4, but if I could only pick one of them, Colours would be my first choice. It takes gameplay of a Sonic game that came close to great and makes it better, than combines it with the unrealistic, over the top nature of Sonic I have always wanted to see.

Of course, if they are both bad Colours is bad, it is going to be a huge blow to them, even worse than their past errors. Of course, I doubt it will be.

 

That is the problem with thinking you are making "core" and "kids" games, what they don't understand, that if they make a game truly "fun for kids" (what Colours looks like) It will most likely be fun for everyone.

I just hope they don't do something lame like sabotage Sonic Colours, just to help Sonic 4 get more credibilty, because after Colours, that Egg engine and the 3D Mushroom Hill, Sonic 4 just kinda looks like a half assed fangame,

Well mabye 1/4 assed, there is ass in there in any case

I mean if I was working on this sonic 4 and saw that 3d Mushroom Hill, my enthusasm for making the project would have been severly dented lol

 

Sonic 4 is what the 'core fans' fans have been asking for only on the surface. It's 2D and has no boost. Any deeper than that and it's a lazy pile of shit. Colours on the other hand is what almost everyone has been wanting to see in terms of 3D games- return to fantasy worlds, light story and gameplay that's tried and tested. The game should be stealing all of S4's thunder because it's doing it right.

It's amazing how SEGA thought that the fussy 'core fanbase' of theirs would settle for what S4 was.

 

Yeah, were not fussy because we want a 2d game or a retro game, were fussy because we want a 'quality' product, is it so much to ask to just make a game well? Polish, testing, refining? and stop rushing games out to meet release dates, release them when either you finnish, or run out of project money.

 

That's exactly it. I couldn't think how to word that. But in essence Colours looks like a quality product and S4 just doesn't.

 

No wonder Colours is doing better, because it's way better than Sonic 4. I haven't really seen much complaints from Colours rather than Sonic 4 which got a shitload since it was first unveiled. Look at it this way:

- Colours is getting released on consoles, Sonic 4 is DLC.
- Colours is another addition to the current modern 3D Sonic series, Sonic 4 tries to please the classic fans but fails.
- Colours is a new story with new levels, Sonic 4 just has enhanced versions of Sonic 1 and 2 levels.
- Most fans are pleased with Colours rather than Sonic 4.
- Colours seems to be getting a good soundtrack, Sonic 4's is horse shit.
- Colours is by Sonic Team, S4 is by Dimps.

SEGA needs to realise that most people prefer Colours rather than Sonic 4. Most people enjoy the footage of Colours rather than having to endure horrible physics from Sonic 4. Really simple here.

I'd also like to mention that because of Colours I intend to buy a Wii. I'd buy Sonic 4 too, but I think Colours will do better.

 

I'm more excited about Colours than I am with 4. But I liked Unleashed, werehog included.

Sega makes some stupid decisions at points, but they never sabotaged themselves willingly. Besides, why would they do such a thing? Colours is in the Wii and DS, Sonic 4 is in the HD consoles and the Wii... The only conflict is the Wii and it doesn't matter.

 

They could easily end this conflict by scrapping Sonic 4, changing the fucking name, or making a GOOD one! Sonic 4 is like the kid who acted cool, thought he was popular and loved, but everybody hates.

While Rush looks like another button mashing, linear shitfest my GOD does it look beautiful! It's like seeing a modern interpretation of Sonic CD.

 

Perhaps someone's ego is getting a bit deflated after designing a product for classic fans only to have them say they prefer the "kids" game instead. Colours will sell regardless of if it's shit or not. S4 because of it's more quality conscious, target audience, probably won't. They are protecting one investment from another maybe.

 

With the way things are going though Colors doesn't seem to be nearly as much about boosting as Rush, and even has powerups, alternate routes, fair QTES, and platforming. So really Colors is an all-around winner here.

 

Platforming? Alternate routes? Seriously? I never saw any of that in the video I saw. Perhaps I owe this game a closer look.
