I would agree if it weren't for the physics being wonky. You used to be able to get an infinite link chain in Frozen Bell 1 but can't in the remake, and NiGHTS himself is a little sluggish overall compared to the Saturn OG. Real shame because Saturn NiD is genuinely one of the slickest, most fluid games ever made and there are few games I think movement feels better in.

Of course, if you aren't already a NiGHTS fanatic, you'd never know this, meaning it's just fine for the majority of people who played it. I'm not going to pretend it's a dealbreaker, lol.

    Jack shit.
Even after the patch the controls were still off in NiGHTS.

Didn't stop me from getting all the achievements in under two hours of the 360 version's launch pre-patch though.

Still waiting for this game to come to Stream and hopefully lose Denuvo... I figure it'll at least come to Steam after it's been at least a year since the original release.

A year is Epic's default. Sometimes things come sooner.

I'm not sure I noticed any of this. I remember noticing something didn't feel the same, but the only thing I knew was different was the absence of lyrics on the songs because it's plain obvious. Of course, 10 years of not having played it help a lot to not notice. Well, sorry, I also noticed the difference in difficulty in the special stages, but, with those things I usually think I got worse due to lack of practice, like I felt with Get Blue Spheres in Mania.

  6. I totally called it.

That other patch Sega said was coming is totally not a thing.

  7. Or it is, but they are waiting for Steam release, maybe?

I at least hope it is so.

When did they say it was coming?

Yeah, they never said a new patch was coming as far as I can tell.

And as much as we want to bitch about minor animation issues and menu lag, aside from those the game's perfectly fine at this point. I'd say at this point it's a decent remaster that's definitely worth buying if you haven't played the original or want it on modern hardware. (Definitely wasn't released in a satisfactory state even if some fans blew its state hilariously out of proportion though.)

So all the issues in the Switch version will just never be fixed, that's good to hear. I can't confidently say this is worth buying, just play the original on Dolphin with a 60fps patch.

tbh I think that's just a result of the special stages not being super janky anymore - but yeah, they're definitely harder because the UFOs' movements are more smoother.

I don't know if this is just me, but did the wonky Tropical Resort piano in the remix end up growing on anyone?

  13. I never disliked it. It's jazzy and gives the piece a different feel. That said, there's a reason the original didn't have it.

I do like some of the remixes, such as Tropical Resort Act 4 and Starlight Carnival Act 2, not to mention all the boss tracks (god bless the Jun Senoue rock organ), but I do largely prefer the original compositions.

I don't think any of the remixes are bad, and I'm not ashamed to admit that I love a chunk of them (like Planet Wisp Act 2). But I'm glad we have the option to use the original soundtrack still, since it's one of the series' best by far.

Did they ever seperate the sound effects and music volume slider stuff? I mean COME ON who thought that was a smart idea.

I outright prefer the Aquarium Park remixes to the original. The shamisen being used as the main melody instead of a whistly synth there is A+.

I wonder if game companies realize that delaying a game's release isn't the worst thing imaginable.
... That dishonor belongs to the choice of releasing a broken game before it's ready.

Does Colors Ultimate still suck eggs, or did the patches fix it? I want to know because the framerate on the Wii version is awful and Dolphin gives me all manner of problems on FreeBSD. I don't need "modern" graphics, just good controls, 60fps, and visuals faithful to the original.

In my humble opinion, Colors is still the best Sonic game since Heroes. I don't deign to compare it to Heroes, SA1, or SA2 because I couldn't pick a favorite even with a gun to my head, I'm just saying that none of the 3D Sonic games since 2005 have given me even 1/4 of the hours of enjoyment Colors did.

From what I understand, the switch version is still kind of crummy, but the other releases are mostly-acceptable.

I'm not gonna replay Colors for a while though, and when I do I'm definitely gonna make sure and grab those bloom and contrast fixes first. I recommend you do the same if you're on PC.
