I was taking a walk around SoundCloud and came across this 1-year-old soundtrack compilation.

At first sight it seemed like just a simple gathering of several Sonic CD albums including the two OSTs, Sonic Boom, StH Remix and such, but I found a few strange things standing out:

The intros of Palmtree Panic JP Present and Bad Future
Instrumental version of Brand New World
Another intro of Stardust Speedway JP Present
    etc.

Where did these new snippets even come from? The official Sonic CD 20th Anniversary Soundtrack surely don't have them, and I couldn't recall if there's any even more rare and obscure album containing them out there. I don't have Taxman's edition of Sonic CD so I'm not sure about that one either.

This looks like the tracks were specifically taken from the Sonic CD compilation made by the user !!!!! at FFShrine. It had both soundtracks put together along with the tracks from StH Remix and the two bonus tracks from the official JP release. It even has the same track list.

The tracks with intros added were just edited together using the 510 beta transition tracks, and the instrumental version of Brand New World was ripped straight from the game, so this isn't an official release or anything like that.

Not a big shock. I used them in my work when I did the looping project, at least for the "OST" styled release.

Well, all this stuff was in there.

EDIT: God damnit, they could include the opening and ending lyrics in the music CD and not in the game's re-release? What the hell, SEGA?

EDIT 2: I really don't get why they added those bits at the beginning of those tracks, anyway, since those were never the composer's intentions. Curiously, they're now looping those tracks without using them and, in my oppinion, sounds way better and less flow-breaking (less prototype-y, if you will)...

It was kinda cute to see them used in an official release, but in retrospect I sometimes wish I hadn't found them in the first place.

I'll field this. In some cases, if you WANTED to include them, they mostly only tend to work as opening riffs since putting them in their intended places as they are sound jarring. Too low quality. Some of them can work if treated right (see how I handled MMZ BF on the OST styled release of the looping project), but ultimately it's up to the discretion of the person making the tracks. It's why, in my case, I made a version 2 release of the looping project without any of them and just using the music as is.

Don't second guess your finding. Just let people have their fun with them. It's about all they're good for until they can be extracted or redone in better quality... if anyone even cares enough to try.

The Boss music [in SCD2011] loops perfectly with the 510 samples and the quality loss isn't really noticeable. I honestly prefer that version of it to the original and soundtrack looped versions.
I think that's one particular case where the original sounds awkward by comparison.

Forgive me for my ego, but I can't help but think this had something to do with me reposting one of the account's tracks the other day.

Anyway, I love both the CD OST and the remixes included, and I could swear some of them were built mostly with KORG instruments now that I know what they sound like.
