I really hope they do a better job at baking the lighting in season 2. One of the things that have put me off of this show is the horrible, minimal effort, Jimmy Neutron quality of the ambience. That, and piss-poor animation. I don't know if this Sonic is supposed to be slower than regular-ass Sonic or not, but the animation certainly appears to be implying that. He's got that abysmal normal human leg speed run animation, but is obviously moving much faster relative to the ground. That was a thing that bothered me in Sonic Heroes, too, and when it comes to CG animation, Marza has been the only studio to do run animations for the character somewhat correctly. It wouldn't bother me so much if the backgrounds weren't such bog standard, "look, we're in a generic surrealist CG jungle setting!". It's art school student-quality stuff, dude. I get that they're working on a schedule, but when I see popular IPs like this and Dragon Ball Super getting such shitshow quality animation (or, in Boom's case, lighting), it makes my heart sink a little. Here's to hoping they re-render the first season for the DVD/Bluray. Doesn't take much, just a little attention to detail, and render time. We live in an age where it's unacceptable to Jimmy Neutron, when even some of the games in the Sonic franchise look better than the show.
Sonic Boom season 2 officially premieres on Boomerang this Saturday at 6 pm ET. Looks like the new episodes will replay on Cartoon Network the Friday after. So their shoving it off on a Digital Cable channel now?! Fuck they are trying to kill this! that means the reairings along with the first airings have to do well for a 3rd season to even be reality.
^To be fair, there's so little heart put into Sonic Boom, SEGA likely sees it as a miracle a second season is being made. A third season will just not happen, even if it had a proper time slot. Anyone who cares about Sonic Boom will just toss it in their DVR and that's it. If Cartoon Network has to shove Sonic Boom into the face of kids to get them to watch it, you have to stop and wonder, why does CN want to air it in the first place? Realistically, if they put it in a proper time slot there will be less viewers who will stick around than putting pretty much anything else. I can imagine the average kid going "wow knuckles is a dumbo sonic runs fast amy is a girl tails does stuff" then flipping the channel away whenever it airs ever again. Half the jokes in the show aren't even jokes. It's regurgitated saliva from the generic low budget CGI comedy 2007 era but you're supposed to laugh at it because it has the Sonic IP on it. Every joke I've seen in this show I've seen before with better execution. Heck, you can likely get away with replacing the whole cast with a different set of characters. To be blunt, there's nothing unique about this show. This whole Sonic Boom project was betting on the whole "kids don't understand quality" mentality, and hey, sometimes you gamble and you lose. It's not that they're trying to kill it 'cause their jerks, this is the only time slot that remotely makes sense in a business stand point. Tossing a reairing of Regular Show or Adventure Time for the billionth time is more profitable than Boom can hope to reach and CN knows it.
Heads up, my DVR has Sonic Boom as a 30 minute block yet only S2E1 is listed. I'd assume the new episode is in that timeslot. If it is then that means that it's disguised as a rerun, though that might be fixed later.
Today's "new" episode is the one that aired on Cartoon Network a couple of weeks ago, which apparently was a sneak preview. I guess new episodes will air starting next week.
"These essays are awful! Looks like my evil scheme to underpay teachers backfired." That line had me howling, especially as I've got marking to do tonight.
I feel a bit disappointed, idea for a plot with "space danger" was really generic, good performance would probably save the situation... But even there it was utterly trivial, i had an impresssion that I barely feel that I'm still watching Sonic Boom. Quite a letdown after relatively good first episode in this season.
I've found it on YT week ago, I've sent PM with link. Don't know if it was uploaded somewhere else, I didn't bother to look for other sources, I'm too lazy :P BTW - Sticks had different color of the eyes in mirror: Spoiler
Classic Sticks confirmed for mania lol. Also her arms don't line up with the mirror unless I'm mistaken about the mirrors perspective?
That black eye error has happened before, but I'm almost wondering if this one was intentional given that she's talking about parallel universes in that scene.
Yeah, this is what I was thinking on that. Make the crazy person maybe have a sprinkling of truth, for the gag. =P
At a guess, the owner's not got the channel Boom's on? Or something else has cropped up. We'd need him to check in.
Even if Spazz doesn't have boomerang its still airing on CN at its usual dead hour time slot. yeah someone needs to check on him.
