It's not unused. It's from a side mission, and the boost rings rise out of the water in sequence like points. There's another mission scenario just like it at the other end of the island.
There is a mission where you must run through those rings in a certain order, they appear one after one.
I really do find it funny that so many games have elements of Superman 64. "GO THROUGH RINGS IN THE RIGHT ORDER"

That's actually a pretty obscure reference I wouldn't expect random Facebook page runners to be aware of. I'm glad something of the Classics is alive and well today (for a given value of "well").
I clicked on that video expecting a You Spin Me Right Round remix, but I was disappointed to not find any. Edit: Aaand the crowd goes silent. Seriously guys, where is your sense of humor?
If they were 'inspired' by Sonic 06, they failed. At least 06 had some design and thought put into that. Also I'm pretty sure there weren't that many 'through the rings' side missions in 06, and they weren't ridiculous like the ones in Boom.
Wait, what? Is my sarcasm detector way off, or was everything you just said completely wrong? "Through the rings" missions are about as basic as the come in just about any game. It's hardly ground for criticism, or reason to speculate that '06 inspired Boom. There's nothing inherently wrong with them. On top of that, Boom has a grand total of two which are both optional (and lack time limits) while 06 has many more both mandatory and optional. Plus '06's are notoriously difficult because of the game's slippery controls. Booms are both on water and the water running controls aren't good, but they are playable.

Thats fine and understandable, all I care about is its innards anyways. please share what you've been sharing on Twitter. Also, Yes please do the music rip. it may be dull and boring as a soundtrack but an OSV still should exist.
