Maybe one day in the distant future we'll find the missing final release that never made it to the public's eye. We're beta testers guys, a piece of sanic history!
Sorry, he said it was 720, but the text wasn't jagged so I assumed the game itself was stretching the resolution to 1080 rather then the WiiU Console, and whatever the glitch was doing was stopping that and letting it render properly in 720.
Note sure if it's been posted yet : https://soundcloud.com/generaloffensive/the-brlbrl-quartet-sonic-boom-drowning-voices
OK, the GHZ bit was mildly amusing, but then the drowning theme proper kicked in (what I expected at first), and I just started laughing. Wow.
The irony of this all is that Sonic Boom was made to bring in new fans to the series. If this returns even lower numbers than Sonic Lost World, then...
>hearing constant voices of brbrbrl everytime I click on a Sonic Boom Megathread page Good one, Cinossu. Or whoever that was.
Being compared to The Room requires it to be an instant classic. Also there already exists a game of The Room and it is amazing.
This is BAD. Sonic '06 was the most ruinous video game I've ever seen, and it's kind of a miracle the franchise survived at all. So 8 years later, when the mainstream is FINALLY starting to move past it, when our cries of how fantastic Colors and Generations seem like they might be getting through... Sega outsources the game and THIS happens. I bet people are getting fired today. And I really do hope we find out just where the ball was dropped on a $35 million budget. But, let's look on the bright side. Because Sonic '06 bombed so hard, Sega stopped with the Final Fantasy storylines and 8 billion playable characters. Maybe when this bombs, Sega will remember that a platform game featuring Sonic the Hedgehog should probably feature gameplay that is in some way reminiscent of a Sonic game. FFS, '06 was almost literally garbage, but at least it was recognizably trying to be Sonic.
Oh dear. That glitch that lets you jump infinitely? You can use it to skip 80% of the game, and finish the game in less than an hour. Listen, when I joked that people haven't found the glitch that lets you skip the entire game like 06 had, I was JOKING. And it only took 2 days to find it. How long did it take for that glitch to be found in 06?
At least Sonic Team has been working on the next main title (Sonic Runner...?) concurrently, so there's likely to be absolutely no influence of Boom on it. My hope is that it's a fusion of Generations gameplay with a little bit (emphisis on a little ) of Lost World mechanics within. Back on Boom: When this project was first unveiled, I was cautiously optimistic that even if this game wasn't great, it was a side project that could potentially serve as a culling ground for good ideas and experimentation with gameplay elements that could then be implemented into the main series if those elements were well-received. I still think that potential exists in a Sonic side-series. But not Boom. Boom just needs to die a quick, quiet death. The only thing I like about the game at this point is the tone of the story and a few of the jokes. Keep the tone, ease up on the jokes a bit; that's the only thing of Boom that should cross over into the main series. Beyond that, it just needs to disappear. But of course Game Grumps have already got their teeth in it, so Boom won't be going away. It's going to be a shackle around the neck of the series for years to come. Unlike Sonic '06 that was able to scare Sonic Team back onto a good path, the game isn't even Sonic Team developed, which means there's probably going to be no lessons to learn here. It was just a wasted effort on essentially all fronts.
Something can still be learned from this. They have to keep the quality of the series, or else.... This
Considering a domain for Runners turns up on Sega Networks, the mobile division of Sega, it's unlikely that's what Sonic Team has been working on. I know it's been said before, but RoL feels like a Colonial Marines situation again. Do we have any proof to substantiate such a claim yet?
They probably would have been better off just canceling this. I imagine more money would be made in the long run that way. Edit: 10 years from now we will realize that SEGA has actually given us a precious gift, and we will have squandered it with hatred and aversion.
Holy Crap! Sega really wants to destory their brand. Sega gotta Sega I guess. It's really a shame to see a western sonic in this state.
