That, and isn't SOA's HQ in San-Fran? I don't think they have anything on the east coast, do they?
Right, but that hasn't stopped other American branches like Capcom of America from doing events on the East Coast. Mind you, they're not as frequent as their west coast events (again, cost, convenience, etc.)
Bit more of a drive than L.A. and $20?
Yeah, I'll probably end up going if there's still tickets available.
I live in San Diego and I saw this advertised on facebook a few weeks ago so I bought a ticket. I'm not even entirely sure what it's going to be.
I'd like to go to Sonic Boom, but there's no way I could afford it. Maybe I'll go in a future year.
Assuming this happens next year. You'd have to see if Sega keeps bleeding money and starts cutting more things.
For those wondering what Sonic Boom is like, here's the best way to word it: it's standing in an ambient lit room with some music playing surrounded by several hundred/thousand Sonic fans, some more hardcore and passionate (read: annoying) about their fanhood than others. Some are all right and don't really flaunt it, others are notorious deviantart whores who you want to punch in the face.
Also there's a live concert by Jun Senoue, Johnny Gioeli, and Alex Makhlouf. Your mileage may vary on your enjoyment of a Crush 40 concert as it's mostly limited to their Sonic work. It made me feel bad last year because they did have some interesting original work from Sons of Angels and then that one cover they did for their second album but everyone else was too busy throwing virgin semen over SAWNICK HEEEROOOOOES.
That's about it for Sonic Boom in a nutshell. There were some machines where you could record a video of how Sonic changed your life and wish him a happy birthday (and damn, was it awkward seeing 20-somethings gush over this), but that footage never arose anywhere. I'm going to assume it was stashed away and aired at Sonic Team board meetings for comic relief.
Of course, Retro crew was there in full force by being the "IDGAF" group who was there because we're Retro, talking to Ruby, kellie (from community, awesome girl she is) and Ken Balough. I do love Slingerland's tweet was broadcasted on their live feed in that he only showed up for the (grossly overpriced) beer.
Also cupcake hoarding.
Sonic Boom sounds like a blast. Here's hoping for an East Coast event in the coming years!
Just got my ticket this morning using graduation money!
Also seeing Zelda Symphony (which I already saw in SF a month and a half ago, well worth seeing again) the night before, and going to ComicCon on Saturday and Sunday. Hopefully that won't mess up any plans on meeting you guys, because hanging out with Retro last year kicked tons of ass.
+1 for east coast event. I am way too poor to travel to the other half of the States.
My goal this year is to NOT be the designated driver.
I say that, yet I have a feeling that's what's going to wind up happening again. :v:
QFT. I may be in Canada but I would have loved to attend. However, my phobia of planes doesn't help and crossing the entire continent all the way to the next country even would be kind of really long, since I'd be taking my car.
There will be a trivia game like at SoS.
Okay...So I need to confirm some stuff since I'm out of a computer currently...
3 to 5PM - Bennigans:
1760 Camino Del Rio (North)
5PM - House of Blues:
1055 5th Avenue
6PM to "Whenever" - Dave and Busters:
2931 Camino Del Rio (North)
Do I have my info right? I'm leaving for Arizona today and won't be able to check this topic until next week so I hope someone replies by then.
Looks about right. I'm unsure about the addresses, though.
Well, I got my ticket. Next thing to do: Pave a way through all these confusing bus lines and trains that are to be my transportation. :specialed:
So what's the head count for Retro folk attending?
Why isn't this in Australia?!?!?!?!!??!
Put me down as questionable. I'm trying to make things happen, but it's not looking good.
Actually, I would love to go to San Diego in the 2014 one.
