It's actually because of the program used to rip it (and it was probably "BRRES Viewer"). I encountered this when I was messing with it (for another project; I didn't rip this one nor did I port it), and I had to fix all the weird head bobbing stuff and the like manually. The latest version of BrawlBox does it perfectly though.
(Replying here because CBA to log into Google+/Youtube) Hahahaha what? You went from 'It must be a mere coincidence' to 'I paid to use midis' in the space of a few hours. And I'm still willing to bet it's a straight up midi rip, because I'm looking at what's potentially the exact same midi right now (Thanks Google) right down to the tempo changes, pitch wheels and CC data (which seems a little overboard to all copy change for change if you want to call it a 'mere coincidence' and 'original composition') Let's see, we have: - Original composition - Coincidence - By ear - Paid to use this All of which are likely false. The sad part is even being false they contradict each other. Previously my opinion was, like I said, you're free to do whatever the heck you want with your fangame, but at this point let's just call you a moron who's failing at attempting to verbally deflect the issue while comically changing your excuse repeatedly. And no, composing an entire OST (ACTUAL composition, not plugging midis into DAW, mind you) doesn't take more than a few months, tops.
This game has been cancelled now. So this topic may be locked, unless of course anyone else would like to take over the project, in which that case I will transfer the files to them, it includes about 7 months hard work and some other stuff. Instead I'm doing more productive things in my life. I'll be more focused on other parts of the forum than fan-gaming. Once I'm done with high school and university, that's when I'll do some useful game development. Shame to see 1/100th of my life down the drain on this, but if anyone else wants to take over this project, make sure that you'll give me credit, and it would be great if you had the same skills in UDK, so at least 2.5 years experience, 3 years experience in 3DS Max, 1 year experience with FL Studio or another good DAW, and 4 years experience with Photoshop for textures. And please no angry comments, my mum would lecture me for days if she sees anyone saying anything bad.
I really don't understand why you would cancel the project because of Falk calling you out over the music. If the project were released fully and gained traction somebody else would have noticed it anyway - by that time it would be worse. Cancelling the project over one incident isn't worth it. Sure, it can be disheartening when people put your project down in any way, but it's at that time you should look at what you can take away from the criticism and improve what you have. I mean, fuck. The majority of Sonic Incursion right now is made up of free assets found online / works I am allowed to use with credit given. I'm making the game for fun and hoping when I can release it others will find it fun. Who cares how something is made if it's enjoyable?
No shit, fangames are generally built around borrowed ideas and assets. Even the core concept of having Sonic as a character is a borrowed element. Like I said, no one cares if you're reusing assets. I honestly don't give a shit if you're putting Lady Gaga or Justin Bieber in your game, because hey, everyone's tastes is different and I'm not one to judge something subjective. Just have the courtesy to give credit where credit is due (Which you didn't, claiming obviously reused assets as your own compositions, and ironically asking people to give -you- credit for -your- work) Your attitude and inability to take criticism is what's shitting up your outlook. I know you have quite a few years ahead of you and I sound like an old fart saying this, but you're not going to get anywhere by burying your head in the ground and spouting whatever excuse you think up on the spot. Project cancelled? Wow. Am I supposed to feel guilty or something? Get over yourself.
Oh yeah - not giving credit at all or claiming you did the work yourself is a massive dickmove. I just don't understand why the game is cancelled, especially considering someone else would probably have noticed eventually.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ttA6gfcUGsw I really don't understand why you tried to cover this up. There's no way it would go unnoticed. You only made it worse for yourself, especially after asking for credit yourself. =/ But if pointing that out makes you cancel the whole thing, would this really have gone anywhere? Honestly, it didn't look all that bad or anything. Not really my cup of tea, but certainly not terrible.
Okay give me some time to rethink this decision. Once real life issues settle down I may come back to it. And I'm 15, not a criminal from Psycho.
You don't have to impress people with stuff. If you're borrowing music from other sources, the coolest thing to do is just own up to it, especially if it fits the theme. EXAMPLE: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u4UhQ57bf-A I didn't compose that. Hell, I haven't composed a single song in all my work, but I acknowledge where it came from (Rondo of Blood - Opus 13) since people should go check out that soundtrack/game anyway. Giving credit from where you got it will take a lot of people off your back and you'll just get the usual "Oh, I LOVE THAT SONG FROM (source)!" No need for a meltdown if you get called out on something. Breathe in, admit you screwed up and just work on not doing it again. Show you have some pride and integrity in your actual work. If you're giving up your "life's work" because of such an instance (and I won't speculate if your real life issues are legit or another excuse, not my place to do so), then it wasn't a very strong piece of work in your head.
Those aren't exactly mutually exclusive, y'know. :v: But yeah, if there is some kind of real life issue, the project doesn't have to die out; you can always just put it on hold for a while.
Okay so I did some dick moves, and development isn't progressing in Sonic Ascension. So I apologize to those people waiting for the game and the ones who I lied to. Obviously no one isn't going to accept this apology but just letting everyone know that I know it was wrong.
Since this project has gone down, I started a new one and teased everyone in a different section. So if you still want to see some of my stuff take a look at this video The anime opening which is about 7-10% finished, is made primarily with Photoshop and Sony Vegas, Photoshop for the paint brush, as well as cleaning up line-art and colouring, and Sony Vegas for the composition. P.S. The song is Sange by Phrenia, FREE FOR USE UNTIL THIS PROJECT IS FUNDED THROUGH KICKSTARTER. Now I will keep this as relevant to Sonic: Ascension as possible so that's all I'll say.
Too bad you're not developing this anymore; it looked better than most of the new Sonic games, like Sonic Boom. Especially Sonic Boom.
