Spaz is one of my favorite Archie artists as well. I do feel that the mouths and dynamic cloth are drawn a bit weird though. Like a bunch of swirly shapes. My faves overall are Toei Sonic and Hesse's style which borrows from Toei a bit.
You know, AoStH's animation has always subconsciously reminded me of something else, and I just now realized what it is. The 70's Dr. Seuss TV specials, in both the character animation and the surreal backgrounds.
I thought more Ren & Stimpy, with the abstract backgrounds, the exaggerated animation and the original characters' deliberately derpy designs. It came out when R&S was all the rage, after all.
