    Great to see this hack back in action, I always liked playing this hack, but I am going to play it again today, since the last time I played it was during the summer.

    Good luck with this hack, and switching to the S3&K-Style SST's.

    Thanks everyone, it seems I have more fans than I thought :P

    I've fixed the Marble Zone redscreen (there was bad code in the sitting flame object), fixed its background (for now it only shows the outside background, I am planning to have it switch dynamically a la FBZ), fixed the first part of the level events (it would kill you in a "bottomless pit" by wrongly setting the screen lock when you jumped on to the first chandelier) and fixed the chandelier-button-block set up (for some reason standing on the button raised the chandelier but pushing the block onto it didn't). So now you can get as far as a 256x256 chunk of garbage which blocks your progress (the top half is solid when it shouldn't be, and the bottom half is non-solid where it should have a floor, so you fall in a pit).

    Yeah there's nothing new in these screenshots, but you could consider this along the lines of a new engine since I messed with the SST and other things so much. :P

  11. Wow, just looked at the post above. That was a bad week for Sonic hacking. Luckily, every single one of those hacks has already been brought back to life. :P

    So apparently the lightning shield lets you climb up to the boss arena without triggering the crash in this act. Well, after a lot of messed up screen locking/scrolling (some worked, others didn't), I got teleported here when the boss loaded. I can't move from this spot, both Sonic and Eggman are invincible, the screen shakes horizontally (and draws that garbage in the middle there), and best of all Eggman swings his wrecking ball along the right half of the screen, from top to bottom and back again. If you're wondering about the fire shield, I picked that up from the area at the top after I didn't need the lightning one any more. So yeah, there's a whole crapload of bugs with this boss, but I'm sure (some of) you found that entertaining.

    I'm glad to see this one uncancelled. I had a vested interest in this one, because of its name. :)

    Hey, at least this glitch isn't as gamebreaking as the act 1 boss in Sonic 3c, if you play as Knux in Sonic's arena.

    Figured I'd give another progress report:

    - Screen lock changes and autoscrolls work properly now.
    - The level object loader has been completely rewritten from scratch. This fixes the GHZ boss crash, several redscreens and several occurrences of a "Sonic disappears and the camera flies to the top right hand corner of the level, but I can still pause and enter the level select" phenomenon. It also means that rings now get collected properly again (before, all collectable/destroyable objects other than monitors would respawn infinitely). However, for whatever reason, while rings and monitors work properly, enemies will appear once, and then will never respawn whether you kill them or not.
    - MZ is now just about playable, with the exception of a wall blocking your progress at the end of act 2 and the occasional redscreen caused by touching caterkillers. In MZ4, the boss never appears, and you can run straight to a capsule with wrong graphics, though it explodes forever so you can't beat the act.
    - Zone entry elevators have been fixed. There were two bugs with these, one being that you'd get taken to the wrong zone and the other being that you'd simply die because the screen lock would refuse to go away. This would occur if you held the "down" button for over ~14 frames instead of releasing it, which explains why it was so seemingly random.
    - You no longer retain high speed and sped up music if you clear an act before your speed shoes run out.

    I'm hoping to enter it, but I intend to get it to Beta 5 status first. Which means:

    - Fix ALL bugs in the bug list.
    - Implement Knuckles' gliding and climbing abilities, and Sonic's instashield.
    - Finish the Big and Mini versions of both Sonic and Knuckles so that all frames display correctly.
    - Restore all three non-boss acts of GHZ, LZ, MZ, SLZ and SYZ to fully-playable status, and the bosses of GHZ and MZ.
    - Fix ALL objects that appear in those zones/acts.
    - Restore the background art and deformation for all zones.
    - Complete SBZ acts 1 and 2.
    - Redo the Special Stage art so it doesn't use player colors.

    And if you're curious, here's the bug list so far:
