Sonic and the Black Knight

Just remember these are the storybook series. They obviously started these and continued them just to broaden Sonics horizons and make more money any way possible. I personally like them but just ignore them and stick with the better Sonic games on the bigger and better systems.

 

I've heard something about unlocking commentary/intros from the game's voice actors. Anyone come across something like this in the game?

For the record, I think this game looks decent and I wouldn't mind waiting for a price drop to check it out.


EDIT: I just realised... SEGA haven't aired any TV commercials for this game, have they?

 

It's for kids, 8 year olds don't care. All they care about is seeing a hedgehog run. (Hence it being scripted). I mean d'awww. look at that blue hedgie running around. ISN'T IT CUTE.

 

I hope Sonic Team don't overdo this whole Chili Dog thing, it was stupid to begin with. It was a funny cameo in Unleashed seeing it listed as "Sonic's favorite food", but it's appearing in cutscenes and stuff now which is pushing it a tad.

Also, I haven't seen any TV ads, but it is being advertised quite a bit. That "Sonic Knight buddy" thing on that Gaia website, I've seen ads in magazines, etc.

 

I thought I saw one that was setting up to be a commercial for Black Knight (stupid premise, medieval setting, etc), but it turned out to be one for a Snickers bar.

Ok. Now, replace "chili dog" there with any other fanservice-y "oldschool" concept of your choice, and maybe you'll get one hint as to how badly you wouldn't like to eat your words in the future.

 

Sonic had the Chili Dogs because he'd just bought them. He was apparently about to go on a date with Amy when Merlina summoned him, and I assume the two Chili Dogs were for him and Amy (hence, he flipped out when the 2nd one got left behind).

Even so, yeah. It's cute, but should just be canon character bio information....though you know fans love it when a character's personality traits are represented well in a game. Sonic just happens to like Chili Dogs, so it would make complete sense for him to eat one on camera. Thing is, it's weird, because up until Unleashed, we never saw a Sonic character eat anything (except for Chao I guess), aside from non-game media.

 

IGN was talking about the backlash that they got after the SatBK review, someone ripped that bit of the podcast and stuck it on Youtube.

 

And that opening letter pretty much shows what NOT to do on the grounds that we will laugh at you for writing like a moron.

 

What fanfic are you reading? Sonic was about to eat the second one, and he flips shit every time he sees Amy.

 

Actually, Sonic doesn't really mind Amy, it's the fact she keeps proposing Marridge that has him running from her. And to be honest, it didn't look like he was gonna eat the other Chilli Dog, as he was flipping it around. Don't you think he would have at least ate it before going to engage the Black Knight?

 

Nah man, he was going to fight him WITH the chili dog.

 

The manual's story states that he gets summoned while on his way to a have a date with Amy, and this is referenced after you beat the game, where Sonic is finishing up his story and Amy accuses him of making it up because he forgot about the date.

The chili dogs may just be for him, but I assume that due to the circumstances, he had bought one for each of them.

That's a lot of how the Sonic canon goes. By assumption.

 

Who really gives a damn about the continuity anymore? The moon heals itself, cozy princesses retcon themselves from of the plot, and Shadow explodes with selective amnesia. This too shall pass.

 

Odd. I was extracting the voice data from the game (uses ADX and AFS), and voices sound really muffled. It's like someone turned the volume up really high, saved it and turned the voice back down.

 

You know...I admit it, it's probably not worth my time to get into deep thought about why Sonic had chili dogs in a game cutscene.

By the way, Kotaku had a blip of dialogue from the game's producer, who said Sonic had a sword, because he'd always wanted to see Sonic with a sword. It's pretty much one guy's fault. According to him.

Anyway, they(as in...whoever at Kotaku) referred to "Sonic making out with humans", and it's like...yeah, we bitch about professional gaming sites bandwagoning against Sonic, even though it's probably not true, but if there's anything to back it up it's this.

Thing is...you wonder how many have actually seen that particular scene. It's cheesy and stupid, but...you know what?

Sonic was kissed by her, she got him while he was down.

I dunno, my thing is that I wish they left you play with the battle mode characters in single play mode on ALL missions. I wanna play as Amy dammit. Have one WiiMote sucks ass.

 

Sega needs to stop hiring schizophrenic people to direct their Sonic games. Both Hashimoto and this guy have said in interviews that they hear Sonic's voice.

 

I hear Sonic's voice all the time.
