Did you forget about Sonic Adventure 2?

 

While I partially agree with you. many here would beg to differ, citing the Treasure hunting stages as tedious and the mech stages as simply unnecessary.

 

Actually the big thing against SA2 from where I stand is that in making levels character specific they ruined their design. The more open levels like Red Mountain and Speed Highway's final area were all pretty fun to play through (though the first two parts of Speed Highway sucked). As a result there were more interesting levels that had tons of clever shortcuts to take and had to stay fairly open. The more restrictive Sonic/Shadow levels in SA2 just don't look as fun to me.

 

Some have said that Nintendo Power's preview mentions him as a blacksmith. He can upgrade your items and stuff, or something along those lines.

...I miss when Tails could run as fast as Sonic. Whatever happened to that? I know speed is Sonic's forte, but it still bugs me.

 

What if Eggman is Merlin?

It would make sense, given the current trend of Eggman's pet projects blowing up in his face. Maybe he was teaching King Arthur some crazy shit, and he went all bat-shit crazy and became the Black Knight.

Just sayin'.

Also, considering Shadow and Blaze are in the game, Rouge and Silver probably are too.

And steampunk Omega.

 

@Hayate: He said story-wise. Knuckles' story was really, really forced in Sonic Adventure 2. Breaking the emerald so that Eggman wouldn't steal it? AND the shards flying miles and miles away? If he could reach the Emerald, then why didn't he just grabbed it and pushed it down?! And why would a simple punch make the shards fly THAT far?
@muteKi: Hey, in counterpart we have Green Hill Zone, which is pretty much a level to explore around. Plus the exploring stages were good designed, but at the same time, level design failed at being a little more interesting.

 

Remember what happened the last time Knuckles tried that? He was in for quite a shock.

How about steampunk Metal Sonic. It's about friggin' time we get another metallic Sonic replica.

 

Well, that explains a bit! Knuckles was going to get the Emerald, but he suddenly remembered the electric shock, and, in a short trauma attack, he ended destroying the Emerald!
Also I always thought that Mecha Sonic MK-II had some quite steampunk details myself.

 

The game has an unbelieveably stupid concept but I'll consider a rental of it. If the game plays like Unleashed as I've heard then I'll definitely check it out. I want to have actual control over Sonic instead of that automatic running bullshit we got in Secret Rings.

 

Storybook series to be an ongoing thing. Coming Soon: Sonic and the Three Bears.

I hope that doesn't mean we get those storybook cutscenes again. They were nicely done and all, but were boring as fuck-all to watch.

 

Wi-Fi connection? Did I miss something?

 

It's mostly for leaderboards on the missions. I wouldn't get too excited at online multiplayer battling, though there is offline multiplayer battling.

I do hope to god that this won't have bad cinematics like SatSR did.

 

The Sword in the title in neither Sonic's sword nor the Black Knight's. Perhaps it's the Excalibur, or a sealed for thereof.

The Black Knight looks like Sauron. It would be funny to make him in Soul Caliber IV.

I too noticed that the Black Knight looked Similar to Sauron.

 

The next one will be something to do with Greek mythology. Or Egyptian.

Admittedly, this would be pretty cool. Donkey Sonic + Pleasure Island = yes, please. Eggman would make a perfect Stromboli/Coachman, too. Better yet, Big could be Stromboli. They can bring him back and make him a supergenius. And Shadow could be Lampwick. Back on topic, I'm not really sure what to think of the whole ongoing storybook series thing. Also, anyone notice the WiFi connection symbol? Let's hope it's not just a stupid leaderboard feature again.

Also, they said in Nintendo power Jan 09 that it's leaderboard only, so far.
