Sonic and the Black Knight

I agree. we definitely have more than enough simple, overly-"casual" games that may as well be rated EC scattered all over the place, and the last thing we need is for the Sonic games to fall into that category. What kind of game plays itself, anyway?

Though, from what I've seen and what we've gathered so far, this still doesn't seem to be as linear as SatSR. I still believe this game could be decent. The RPG elements seemed to work pretty well in Sonic Unleashed, and if executed properly, I'm sure they could work well here too. As long as the multiple characters are actually worth playing as, I don't see it as that big of a problem, either.

 

So I wonder how many other Knights of the Round Table you fight?

I totally love how you guys are all over this like chocolate on a sundae once you see Sonic vs. Knuckles, but once Shadow pops up, "this game is going to suck". Reflexes much?

It's bad enough they didn't put him in Sonic Unleashed. I was starting to think they didn't care about him anymore.

 

While this is just another retarded gimmick that SEGA's using to milk some money out of the 10 year old audience, I actually think this one looks interesting. Better than team formations, guns, air boards, and the werehog, that's for sure.

 

I think people need to reserve judgment until we've seen this game in motion. I have no idea how this game is going to play at this point. Sure we know the control scheme, but aside from beating evil knights, little else about what we'll be doing with it.

 

Hm... I'm assuming everyone will use Cavalier, Multiplayer sounds neat, I was hoping for Co-op though

 

Co-op? Doubt it. They would have mentioned it by now, I think. However, I'll be going for Knight, as it sounds better and makes me feel strong and fast. But we'll see - the game isn't even close to done yet.

 

I as well was hoping for another co-op setup somewhere. It was Sonic '06's only redeeming quality.

And stop all of the Shadow bashing. It's not constructive and immature.

For fuck's sake, it was revealed already that Black Knight wouldn't have the same linear gameplay as Secret Rings and it would be more based on Unleashed. Plus, baawwing over Shadow? Jesus christ guys grow up. People are judging it too soon. We haven't even seen a gameplay footage yet, just a trailer with a tiny bit of the gameplay and pictures and people judging as a fact that it is going to suck balls, this is giving me the rages. Once you actually play it or at least watch a full-level footage, then you can post here saying that it sucks or if it rocks. Otherwise, it is just plain especulation, not a review, not a critic, not an opinion, it is an especulation.

Not only that, but the bits and bobs of gameplay footage show Sonic moving solely hard left and right in the same exact manner as Secret Rings. Nothing that we've been shown even implies that it won't be exactly like Secret Rings. It's practically a direct sequel—of course it's going to play the same.

I don't care about multiple characters if they're developed properly, both story-wise and gameplay-wise. The problem is, I don't think there's ever been a Sonic game post Sonic Adventure that made good use of multiple characters in varying gameplay. That's why the flack about characters like Shadow come about—he's hardly anything more than a Sonic clone with faux-badass psychic powers. There's much more that you can do to very his stats that is never even explored.

 

According to GameRadar's preview of the game, it plays really similar to Unleashed.
Plus, Sonic's going to be controlled by the analog stick of the Nunchuk. Only using it for left and right functions sounds really stupid to me. And there are tons of direct sequels that plays really different from their original. GTA for example.
And if Black Knight is a direct sequel storywise, we shouldn't care about Shadow. He'll be a boss, play a minor role and that's it. Heck, he's not really Shadow actually, he's a character from the book. So you won't see things like Chaos Control being used or anything.

 

To be honest, I'm looking forward to it. Not like I was with unleashed, but it's looking like a decent game.
though I too was hoping for co-op in multiplayer

 

The only thing I'm "bawww"-ing about is that Tails hasn't been introduced yet. And even then, that's bound to happen sooner or later.

Everything else, I'm just taking a "wait and see" approach. It's the only safe one these days, honestly...

 

All these comparisons to Sonic Unleashed have me interested in this game. If it indeed winds up being a wii-exclusive, daytime only version of Sonic Unleashed then I'll be ecstatic. I loved unleashed and I want more.

 

I do remember reading somewhere that it will switch between 2D and 3D like Unleashed does...just wish I remembered where.

 

Makes sense. Sonic and the Secret Rings switched to 2D several times, just not as often as Unleashed did.
