Sonic and the Black Knight

First of all, I'd like to say that all (or at least most) of those games looked awesome!!!

Second of all, Sonic spinning a sword around?! Now Sonic Team's just ripping of the originality and brilliance that Nintendo implemented in their Legend of Zelda games! I'm incensed! ;P No seriously, it was a brief clip, but it none the less captivated my attention just as well as any other clip did. The gameplay looks faster than I thought it would be, which is cool.

Even if Sonic and the Black Knight turns out to be a disappointment, I won't feel bad about buying it when it comes out or even after having bought it; I don't mind buying not-so-good Sonic games when I know full well notable members of this community are always whenever convenience presents itself (and sometimes even when it doesn't) hard at work making excellent hacks and fan games which I can easily download and play for free! 8D It's kind of like having my cake and eating it, yet it's tad bit more like having my cake at little or no expense and having another cake which, though it comes at a greater expense and is not as good, has some interesting attributes of its own for me to enjoy.

 

Isn't that technically what Sonic Unleashed is?

 

Wasn't that what he was referring to, branding it with that humorous, alternative title?

 

I also spotted some footage from the Klonoa remake, but more surprising, Sin & Punishment footage (!). And a bit from "Let's TAP", strongly suggesting that Naka has lost his touch.

 

Yeah, Klonoa caught my attention too. Unfortunately, I've never played a Klonoa, but since I'm a platforming whore, I'm giddy as hell after seeing the footage. Hopefully we'll see more Black Knight footage in a couple weeks at TGS though. It comes out in the spring, you'd think we would've seen more by now (though I'm sure at one point I read that Sega's concentrating on marketing/showing off Unleashed for the time being, after which will be Black Knight's time to "shine").

 

Hell, I'd reserve it.

No, Unleashed is more like "Sonic IS the Big Bad Wolf". Actually, that sounds like a bad summer movie trailer. "This summer, Sonic the Hedgehog IS the Big Bad Wolf"

 

Eh, the werehog has always reminded me of a more "Incredible Hulk" kind of transformation.

 

The game will be at the Tokyo Game Show next week, possibly in a video trailer form:

This will be the first real good look—and consequential opportunity at scrutiny—that we get.

WHY SO SLOW?!

 

Overlord: While I'm running the name Sonic and the Dark Knight in what we're covering, right now I'm willing to attribute that to it being close enough that it will be Black Knight vs. Dark Knight, especially when you consider the significance of "Black Knight" in the Arthurian folklore this game is meant to be based on. I sense that if it's *NOT* Black Knight a lot of the higher meaning would be lost among the Japanese.

 

No, because if he were then he wouldn't be using a sword but a handful of hedgehog-erangs (which look like three blue crescent-shaped blades the tips of which merge into one point: a razor sharp discus, making a fan shape.*) Duh. =P

*It would something like this: ^\!^/ except that the blades would be bent, the dot would be a razor sharp disc, and the blades part and disc part would connect. Though I guess that wouldn't make much of a boomerang now that I think of it... Not that it really matters, considering he has a sword anyway...

 

I would imagine it looking more like that thing in the Sonic X logo that vaguely resembles Sonic's head.

 

Yeah, maybe they should change the Japanese title to Espio and the Dark Knight('s?)! =P
